My Homey pro can not open or close my Danalock. It works for a while and then error message timeout appears with a red line on the top of the Homey app. I have reset the lock, followed the Danalock innstructions and held the lock close to the Homey device when connecting. Anyone else had simular
problems and found a solution?
Hi Tom,
Which Homey model?
Do you have other zwave/zigbee devices paired with Homey?
Hi Peter.
Thanks for reaching out. I have a Homey Pro (Early 2023). Almost every device I have is zigbee, I guess I have like 20 devices that works fine. Homey pro is a great product an it is a fun hobby. But this lock is a bit of an hassle…
No problem.
The lock uses z-wave? If yes, I’d add a z-wave router device near Homey (up to a few meters).
Did you figure this out?. Has same issue here. Zigbee lock. Slow to update status back to homey and gets timeout messages all the time. I have to wait 30 seconds for homey to show correct status.
Problem solved. Updated the zigbee chip in the danalock. Works fine in homey now.
This has also happened to my v3-zigbee from time to time as well. It seems like every time something is not optimal (i.e., less than full battery, pending update, etc), the danalock becomes unreachable from Homey, and I get the 10-second timeout message.
So I have now run into this problem. It has worked flawlessly for a long time, but as of today, whenever I try to lock or unlock the V3 Zigbee using the Homey app, it either times out or seemingly changes status but nothing happens. Everything works in the native Danalock app on my phone.
@Kjell_Fjelde How did you update the Zigbee chip?
Any other known problem-solving approaches?
Try this first:
I needed to update the firmware to the lock. There is a separate firmware updater program to use on your phone (Danalock Toolbox). Put the lock into update mode by removing a battery and inserting it again while pressing the pin hole button in. The software will then find the lock and update it.
To update the zigbee chip, see here: Zigbee firmware update · Danalock
Thanks for the quick feedback!
Did something happen to suddenly trigger the need for the update? I find it strange that it was working fine and then today it just stopped working. The process to update the firmware seems a bit «involved» and with the main door lock, I really don’t want to risk messing it up anymore…
Someone say changing the batteries is one possible solution, but the the app says the status is «high».
And now I see it even requires specifically a Windows computer, which I don’t have…
To update the firmware for the lock you only use the phone. So try that first. Need to calibrate the lock afterwards though.
I remember that updating the zigbee was a bit of a hassle as i needed to take the lock up to the computer etc. If it worked fine before i suspect a firmware update is hopefully the solution.
My locks did not work out of the box. One additional lock dropped out and only needed a firmware update to start working again (I have 3 Danalocks)
Thanks, I will try some things (including looking to Nuki with Matter…)
This status unfortunately is completely useless in case of issues with battery powered devices.
Always try brand new batteries first when having issues.
@Peter_Kawa Thanks, batteries ordered!
I am happy to confirm that the batteries was the problem. Replaced and now things work again. The guy at the store said that they had heard of quite a few cases such as mine, and apparently they have mostly been cases where the original batteries were still in the lock. Sometimes, the locks could have been stored for months or even years before being sold, so the initial batch will last shorter than after changing to new ones.
