Check presence regardless of current manual status

Hi!
According to this article from Homey: Using Presence and Sleep Status

Automatic presence
The user’s status is automatically set to away when the smartphone with the installed Homey app is outside of the radius. This check is performed by your phone’s operating system whenever it suspects your location has changed.
Updating your location can take up to two minutes. As a result, there can be some delay between a user arriving or leaving and the status being updated.

Is there any “AND” card to check if the smartphone is inside or outside of the radius? Or is there a way to force this check and update the status?

My problem is that if I manually set via flow that the smartphone is out of the radius, your image card returns false even though the smartphone is actually inside radius. I have no way of checking again what the reality is. The smartphone is actually out of range or has only been manually configured to simulate it? How can I check the current actual status?

AFAIK, you can’t, at least not with the built-in cards.

My thirst question would be why update the status yourself?
Second thought is there is only one status, updated by you or by Homey. So you can test by moving the phone out of the radius and back again in the radius to see if the status is updated.

My dog is old so when I take him out for a walk, although it takes us a long time to get back, we don’t really go far from the house. As we don’t go far enough away most of the time Homey doesn’t detect that I’ve gone away and doesn’t send out the flows to turn off the air conditioning, lights, close the door… etc. And even if it does detect it, it doesn’t take long before I get close enough for everything to start up again

To solve this, I have opted to update the status myself with the help of a door sensor and this app: Smart Presence. When the door opens I wait 1min and then check which smartphone is connected to the WiFi, to know which person is the one who has left. This has improved the situation a lot, but I am totally dependent on having the WiFi active, it is not ideal since I used to disable it to save battery when I go out to work, also i need to configure a static IP for all users phones, and I can’t take more than 1 min to get away

That’s why I was wondering if Homey had any options in their built-in GPS geofence just to know who is inside or outside the range of my house, regardless of the current status

I think that the radius that the Homey app maintains is pretty big, like 500m, which is probably too large to be useful in your situation.

Maybe use an AirTag for your dog?

Since I also have a dog that I walk in the neighbourhood, I have set a flow that detects the wifi connection of my smartphone to toggle my presence. Works fine for me

That is what Smart Presence does…

If you can’t use wifi or gps you’re pretty stuck I think…

If you have an Android, with Macdroid you can set a geofence and send a webhook to Homey when you leave this.

@RASK18 disables WiFi, so will MacroDroid work?

Yes, then it will use mobile data.

Cool!

@ReneO I’ll try to go this way, I’ll see if I can check the Macrodroid gps via webhook from Homey. In a few days I will let you know how it goes ^^
