Can't pair GRILPLATS plugs with homey pro 2023

Hi,

3.4.2026 was released version of 2.10.0 Ikea smart home app with Added Matter drivers for GRILPLATS and TOFSMYGGA outlets, and VARMBLIXT lamp.

I got three plugs of GRILLPLATS I tried to pair them with ikea app but unsuccessfully. It is matter device (should be supported since 2.10.0 ikea smart home), I have more ikea matter devices working with my homey pro, but I can’t pair this…

I tried development version of ikea app 2.10.1 but It wan’t to pair.

FWIW, when I had problems pairing an Ikea Thread device, I found restarting Homey helped (on two occasions). Maybe the next attempt would have paired anyway, maybe not.

I can’t get the Tofsmygga paired here either. It worked immediately in the Apple home.

I also bought two TOFSMYGGA plugs today and still can’t them pair with Homey, anyway how can help me? I don’t have an Apple device, so can’t pair it with Apple Home…

You can also add them as Generic Zigbee device (the smart plugs support Zigbee mode by holding the pairing button for 12 seconds AFAIK)

Can’t find anywhere that it’s supporting Zigbee. When you hold down the button for 10 secondes it will go back to factory settings.

According to a website I found online, you need to hold the button 10 seconds to reset it, then press the button 4 times quickly and then, when it’s in setup mode, press the button 8 times quickly to enable Zigbee mode. Not sure if this works though, I only have IKEA Zigbee-only devices myself.

I managed to install it via Zigbee, sort of… I received the following message after installation: Unknown Zigbee device. And it is apparently listed in Homey as GRILLPLATS. An additional problem is that I cannot check the power consumption. I can turn it on and off, though.

Yes, this is normal. The Zigbee mode is an undocumented setup method that works way more reliable than the Matter communication method.

That is a bit of a bummer, because I bought it precisely to be able to monitor the power consumption of, for example, the jacuzzi.

Can confirm this, paired mine just now. Unsure if the sequence was exactly this but have one working without issues

However, this is even stated on the IKEA.nl website: ‘Compatible with Matter. This smart product uses the universal Matter standard. It works with IKEA HOME SMART and other systems from, for example, Amazon, Apple, Google, Homey, and Samsung.’

Yes, I know that it should work. But you shouldn’t want to use Matter anyway, it doesn’t work reliably and there are so many issues with it, the forum is full of topics about issues with Matter. Since Matter requires many different network features that most routers/networks don’t support and reliability can be impacted by so many different factors, I just advise not to use it. Zigbee is way more simple and works way more reliably
