Hi there,
I was wondering whether I can use the relatively new Zigbee Somfy motors in Homey with the existing apps. I’m asking as it seems only RTS and IO homecontrol are listed as options (though perhaps that may have changed recently?)
Hi there,

They can only be used via a Tahoma hub ATM.
You mean they’re controllable by your Somfy app that way, Adrian?
I may have spoken too soon🫢
Correct. If they are added to Tahoma, then the Homey Tahoma app can be used to control them in the same way as RTS or io devices.
Cool. I removed my comment
Well, you were right in as much as there isn’t an app to control them direct via Homey’s Zigbee
Well that sucks…
I’m thinking of buying Somfy roller blinds and i’d rather have the zigbee protocol than the frankly ourdated RTS option…
Seems like I have no other choice.
Unless there is any chance that homey will support Somfy zigbee motors in the future(?)
Yea that’s true, but I didn’t realize Tahoma can handle Somfy zigbee as well.
So they are usable with existing apps, albeit by using a hub
As a start, you can request it here:

The Zigbee motors are a recent addition, so maybe there will be in the future. In the meantime it’s either RTS or a Tahoma hub and a choice of technology.
Didn’t realize I had yet another Zigbee network in my home with the Tahoma box.
As I don’t use it: does anyone know if it is automatically turned off when not in use, or an option to turn it off manually?
AFAIK when you have no devices paired with a zigbee controller, it doesn’t send any signals.
Of course you can check the zigbee channel of the Tahoma box, and change the channel if it’s the same as (one of) your other zigbee controllers.
Can you?
Couldn’t find a setting for it…
Oh sorry Henk, my bad, I assumed any zigbee controller has channel settings.
But I think you’re safe when Tahoma’s zigbee is not used at all.
It depends on which Tahoma you have. The early ones (that I have) have ZWave.
I have the one with Zigbee, bit I see no settings in the Somfy app for it…
