Can I control Graber Motorized Roller Shades with/out Somfy Tahoma Switch

I am purchaing new Graber motorized roller shades. There are 3 protocol types that the motors can come with (RTS, zigbee, z-wave). The installer is recommending that I purchase a Somfy Tahmoa switch and extenders to allow the blinds to be controlled via Alexa. I would like to avoid the purchase of the additional switch and build automation flows using Homeypro hub. For smooth connectivity, do I need the Somfy Tahoma switch in addition to the Homeypro? Is the Tahoma app required to bridge the connectivity model with Homey Pro which will support other sensors in the house? All help is welcome.

Welcome John!

It’s best practice to ask app specific questions in the dedicated app topics, the quickest way to reach fellow Somfy Tahoma users as well as the app developer(s).
You can find the links on the app page at the app store https://homey.app

.

RTS:
Homey can control Somfy RTS blinds w/o additional stuff. No clue if Graber uses exactly the same signals.

You should verify with the RTS app developer, Athom

Zigbee:
AFAIK there’s no Graber/Somfy zigbee app (yet)

In theory, Homey can control RTS blinds directly using the Homey RTS app. My main concern is range as Homey’s RTS range is not as good as Tahoma and you say the supplier has already recommended extenders. I have no experience with extenders, so I can only presume they just repeat the signal they receive, in which case they might also work with Homey.

Another point to note is that RTS is just one way communication, so you will have no feedback of the actual position. It might be worth checking if the zigbee version has proper two way communication and if that’s compatible with the Tahoma. Although Homey has a zigbee controller, there’s no app to for the blinds, so Homey won’t find them.
