I had to replace my Homey Pro (early 2023) a few months ago. The one I had died. Ever since using the new hub, I’ve had problems with the buttons/switches/remotes. I have some devices and flows I trigger with the buttons. I have Aqaua Wireless Mini Switch, Sonoff Zigbee Switch SNZB-01P, Flic button and Zooz Z-Wave Switch (Zen34). I’m using the apps for those brands in Homey Pro. I get very inconsistent results with each of them. Sometimes they will operate the device or flow and other times they don’t or I have to press several times to get the desired results. They are not that far from the hub and I can control the devices and flows using the Homey dashboards and app. But I prefer to use the remote switches/buttons for several things.
One example is I have a flow that toggles 3 outdoor lights on and off. I have a Sonoff SNZB-01P set to control that. I have a Zooz that I have one click on the top button to turn the 3 on and one click of the bottom button to turn them off. Neither scenario works consistently.
Is anyone else having this problem lately? Or do you have any recommendations on how to fix this? If it was just one brand, I could understand it more, but as noted, I use different brands.
Just some thoughts regarding Zigbee: after transferring to your new Homey, the Zigbee mesh network has to be built up again.
Could it be that some devices are now routed in the Zigbee mesh through sleepy end point devices (battery powered devices) instead of router devices that are permanently powered (like a smart plug)? Sleepy end point devices are not active most of the time and will not relay any communication to the next point in the mesh until they wake up. That could cause not responding devices and/or delayed actions.
You could try to repair (via Advanced setting in the device tile > Try to fix the device option) router devices first and then battery powered end point devices.
Note that Thread & zigbee share the same chip (!);
When you use (many) Matter-over-Thread devices as well, consider using a 3rd party controller for zigbee (like, zigbee2mqtt) or for Thread (like, Google Hub)
Not sure if this would be the problem. I do have Aqara Zigbee door & window sensors that are battery, but I have some ThirdReality Smart Plugs Gen2 which do act as Zigbee repeaters in the network. I’ll try adding one more ThirdReality plug close to the Homey hub and by the door where I use the buttons and see if that helps. Thanks.
