[Bug] Homey Mobile App - Add IR or 433Mhz Device needs Bridge on Pro

Adding IR or RF 433Mhz devices on a Homey Pro tells you you require a Homey Bridge

This BUG is verified running specific Homey Mobile App versions on Android and iOS.

Verified on some versions on Android,

Workaround is to use the Homey WebApp on a Desktop or sometimes to leave the Beta App (on Android and Remove / Re-install the normal App)

Note: I just see the bug is also in the Latest Stable version 9.2.1 :smiling_face_with_tear:

Bug is reproduced in in following versions:

  • 9.2.1.1727 (Beta)
  • 9.2.1.1735 (Beta)

It works as expected (No Bug) in the regular release (Tested on Android):

  • 9.2.0.1709 (Stable)

So probably remove the Beta

(And having a Bridge as Satellite on a Homey Pro Early 2023 you don’t have this issue. )

I have a homey pro 2023 and when i want to use any app to connect my 433mhz remote i get a message to buy a homey bridge! Is this new?

Looks like bug Introducing a option for Homey Pro mini.

Ok! When i do it on a pc, this function is available like normal!

My next question is how i can connect my 433mhz remote to homey! I have tried it with the brel app remote but when i press a button nothing happens! Is there something i do wrong or is not every remote working with this app?

You need an app specific for your brand remote.

Of course not every remote works with the Brel app. We just discovered it works with some, other than Brel, remotes.
Which remotes? No one knows. It is trial & error, and a bit of luck.

Here’s another one, Geurt. I thought he might have started a Homey Cloud instance by accident, but he says he’s connected to a Pro:

I have the same problem with the Pro 2023 version.

This on 2 different iPhones and an iPad.
Homey app is version v9.2.1.1734

Pairing 433Mhz does work via the web version of Homey on a PC

Note that the Homey app for apple has recently been updated.
I suspect that is the problem.

Title improvement suggestion: Can you replace “RF” by 433 MHz please? Or just add 433 MHz?

I think not many users will get 433 MHz is also referred to as RF, and won’t find this bug topic.
Thx!

I have several Cleverio and Nexa devices that work perfectly with Homey Pro 2023. Now, when I try to add more, I get an error message saying I need to buy a Homey Bridge to add more 433 MHz devices. This happens with both Nexa and Cleverio. Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong? Homey and all apps updated to latest version.

Use the web app please, or install the stable mobile app version.
There seems to be a bug in the beta / testflight app versions.

But i don’t have a beta or testflight version and i also have this problem still! So i think its a bug in some of the latest updates

But what version do you have and on what platform. If you want help please provide information

Homey pro version 12.4.2
Iphone version 9.2.1.1734

Hi,

I have the same problem as Peter_Heemskerk and runs the exakt same versions of the app and Homey Pro. This is a recent issue for me as well.

Updated OP, as Yesterday I verified that leaving the Beta worked for me to go to a v9.2.0. but the 9.2.1 is already pushed with Bug to stable.
And it also affects adding IR devices.

Only Workaround left is

to use the Homey WebApp

is a bug in Homey Pro FW 12.4.2

See Homey Pro (Early 2023) Changelog | Homey

Resolved in Firmware v12.4.3

RF

  • Fixes an issue that caused a “Homey Bridge required” error to be displayed when adding RF devices.

IR

  • Fixes an issue that caused a “Homey Bridge required” error to be displayed when adding IR devices.

The problem was iddly solved by installing v12.4.3 on the Homey :+1::slightly_smiling_face:
App.version remains v9.2.1.1734
