[Beta] Heimio — native Apple TV / Apple Watch / iPhone / Mac dashboard for Homey Pro

Hi all — I’m the maintainer of the ID Lock Next app (currently in testing), and for the past months I’ve been building something I always wanted for my own living room: Heimio, a native ambient dashboard for Homey Pro on every Apple screen. Apple TV wall panel, Apple Watch app for your wrist and watch face, iPhone/iPad companion with widgets, and a Mac menu-bar glance.

It talks directly to your Homey Pro over your LAN with a local API key — no account, no cloud middleman, no analytics, nothing leaves your house (optional remote access uses your Homey’s own Athom relay). Realtime tiles for locks, presence, climate, power and weather; full device control including vacuums, blinds, EV chargers and colour lights; Moods and Flows from the couch; energy history with Nord Pool spot prices; and unlocking always behind a PIN so the remote in guest hands can’t open your door.

You need: a Homey Pro (Early 2023 or newer, incl. mini) and any Apple device on the current OS. No hub? There’s a built-in demo home to poke around in.

What helps me most: your device zoo. I’ve verified every device in my home renders a sensible tile — yours is the test I can’t run. If a brand shows a wrong or missing tile, the app has Settings → Report a problem which attaches the technical facts (never your home’s data), or file directly at GitHub - c0d3x/heimio-support: Public support & issue tracker for Heimio — the ambient smart-home dashboard for Homey Pro on Apple TV, Watch, iPhone and Mac · GitHub. Energy prices in your region and remote access from outside your home are the other two hot spots.

The everyday app is free and stays free; power features (Flows tab on the TV, dashboards mirroring, energy analytics, cameras, themes) will be a small one-time purchase at launch. Beta testers obviously get everything unlocked via TestFlight while the beta runs.

Hi, Tried to join the beta but says not accepting anymore beta testers.

You will be able to get the apps when Apple has taken time to review the apps.
There is no limit on the beta, it still says that when app is in review! :smiley:

I tried joining on my iPhone, but I get presented with this:

I was under the impression I could install the app on my iPhone or am I wrong?

Only the TV and Mac app is approved at current time keep checking.
The iOS and watch is in the same app and will be available when the reviewers has looked at it.
To install the Heimio on Apple Watch you go into the apple watch app on iphone and install the companion app.

A tip is to use a password manager to store your connect-id and token.
Then it is simple to login via iOS.

Another tip, when iOS is available; the best way to setup an AppleTV is by using the Heimio app settings and connect via iphone then you only have to scan the QR code on TV and it will set it up.

Managed to install the app on my iPhone, but can’t connect unfortunately

I’ve tried the IP address, homey.local (which resolves perfectly on my Mac) but no dice.

Airplane mode seems to be turned on on your phone, have you tried disabling it?

Yes, I specifically turned it on to force a local LAN connection, the app is supposed to make a local connection.

Probably totally irrelevant ( :smiling_face:), but why does is say that you pasted 114 characters, while your IP address consists of only 12? Are there hidden characters/spaces after the address?

That’s the API key, but on iOS some fields are left out of screenshots.

Do you mean Client ID and secret from an API client? As far as I know, you need to authenticate with OAuth first to get a key. Also, client ID and secret are way less than 114 characters

Interesting…

Wondering as well for android (NvidiaShield or automotive vehicles like Volvo, Polestar or Renault) if it’s something you can consider as a dashboard to have direct access to a garage tile/button etc.

Thank you for the work on the Apple world, I will definitely test it as soon as possible.

Really interested, Apple TV’s in every room in the house. Installed on my iPhone, let’s see how to get it on my Apple TV’s…

Hmm, you need to be on same VLAN(ip range) to be able to connect to the device.

I found it better to use the connectId instead of internal IP, then you dont have to be on the local network and can use it on the go as well anywhere.

You can also add the local fallback in settings afterwards if internet is down.

Add the feature requests to the github support page, and I will add the devices you guys need :slight_smile:
But you guys are the only ones that can verify them since I do not have them.

Only car and charger I have added so far is: Tesla and Easee charger.

I wil look into the feature requests from github when I am back from vacation. :+1:

I added some missing devices on GitHub. I will starten testen the present devices tomorrows.
