Best Z-Wave TRV to add to Homey Pro for detailed Heating Schedules

We have an extensive Devolo Home Control system which we transferred to Homey Pro after Devolo withdrew server support. We are trying to find a z-wave TRV that we can create detailed heating schedules/flows such as at a certain times during the day the target temperature changes either up or down. I tried to do this with an Aqara E1, which I know is Zigbee, and although Homey allowed us to create flows they were not transmitted to the valve and we have been told that we need an Aqara hub, which kind of defeats the object of Homey.

Why not stick to devolo trvs? Have you checked the app heating scheduler (homey heizungsplaner)? I‘m happy with both of them.

Nonsense!

Just like with Z-Wave devices, Zigbee devices also require a reliable and stable mesh of routers/repeaters. It’s possible, then, that the Aqara E1 TRV has lost its connection to Homey.

We would if we could, but Devolo stopped selling their equipment about 2 years before they withdrew support.

Zigbee network was fine. We could control the device using the Homey App, but were unable to configure flows to increase the temperature at certain times and reduce at certain times. I did query this with Aqara and was told that the only way we could alter the the time/temperature via a schedule was using a Aqara hub and the facility was not available within Homey Pro.

I’m not familiar with the Aqara E1 TRV, but according to the Homey App Store, there are corresponding Flow cards available to change the set temperature, just like with any other TRV:

Of course, you’ll need to create the appropriate flows, e.g.:

When…
– The time is 8:00 a.m.

Then…
– Set the temperature to 23 °C

Alternatively, you can also use an additional Homey app that allows you to create schedules, such as Homey Heating Scheduler.

I still believe that it is nonsense what Aqara told you.
