I have a few almost new Tuya/Smart Life blinds. I was told I would waste my time trying to make them work with Homey Pro. Is that accurate? Has anybody found any luck with these?
The ‘official’ Tuya app seems to be binned, but the Tuya Cloud community app still works fine.
But I’d try to avoid buying Tuya Wifi stuff.
It’s not about the quality per sé, but Tuya doesn’t seem to like you using non-Tuya gear with their devices.
Nope.
As Peter says there’s a community app (the official app continues to work for new devices but only if you are already subscribed). If your device is not directly supported there’s a ‘Raw’ option to work with unsupported devices, or you can use Tuya scenes.
Also, the Amazon Alexa Tuya skill continues to work so you can operate Tuya devices through Alexa routines fired by one of the Homey Alexa apps or Voice Monkey.
I came here precisely to get rid of Voice Monkey-type stuff. That is exactly how I had them set up. I send API calls from my Stream Deck to Voice Monkey. It is a very rudimentary and ugly integration. Thanks anyway; I probably had higher hopes for Homey Pro after watching their keynote. But the truth is, it is the same old bologna with a higher price tag. I will tear down my new blinds and get some Lutron blinds. I came here to automate and not to maintain a plethora of half-working gadgets that are more of a chore than they help. Buy Lutron, Hue, Switch bot, Aqara, Ikea, and Aeotec. I wish I had access to some European brands, but the truth is that I don’t. Thank you guys!
What really happens w
I don’t understand what you mean by subscribed; could you elaborate?
The official app still works, but Tuya has blocked attempts to use it to sign in to its servers. That’s needed to add your first device to the app. So, if you have done that, you can continue to use it, add and remove devices - at least for the time being. You can’t repair devices, however, and there seem to be situations that trip a log in requirement.
Thanks!
