Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensors

I have purchased 4 Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensors and the temperature is not updating inside Homey Pro. I have tested connecting them to Aqara hub and the sensors function as expected but I really need them to function in Homey Pro so I can incorporate them into Workflows. Can anybody suggest a fix or suggest another temperature sensor that works.

I used to have one, it didn’t update. Put a checkflow on it and afryer a couple of day it worked…then it didn’t anymore.

Some say it’s related to Ikea lights, or Frient devices…

Mine went into the bin…

I have this sensor and works fine.

Product: Aqara Temperature and Humidty T1
Product-ID: lumi.weather

I do not have Aqara hub but have Aqara app on Homey Pro (early 2023)

I also have a Aqara TVOC and that is not working. Have tryed several thing with this but nothing helps.

Product: Aqara TVOC Air Quality Monitor*
Product-ID: lumi.airmonitor.acn01
Firmware: 2020

If anyone has a fix for the TVOC please share.

This report is from a Netatmo Smart Home Weather Station standing in the next room with open door. Both reports are 14 dayes

Try repair them under maintenance in the device settings.
I have 10 -15 Aqara temp-sensors, both older and the T1.
All works fine and updates.

I think Aqara and Ikea does not work well together, not sure if this srtill is an issue?
I am using Ikea’s repeaters and they seems to work fine.

Did you include the devices/sensors at the location where they shall be put?
With Zigbee you must include them from where they shall be put, but Z-wave must (mostly) be included close to the Homey.

Yes it’s not resolved yet:

I can not repair or bind again right now as I’m away on work. Have don it before without it helping. Last time I tried I also think I was on the spot where it is standing. This is the TVOC

Wit the T1 I know I was not on the spot. I moved it after setting it up and it works fine.

Regarding Ikea smart products I have only these two (No Ikea hub):

  • STARKVIND Air purifier
  • TRĂ…DFRI Driver for wireless control, smart grey, 10 W

Both are not connected (off-line) now and probably when setting up the devices. The TVOC is close to Ikea products and the T1 is far away and also Homey is placed in between Ikea products and the T1.

When I get home in 10 days I wil do some testing. Is there anything I can do/check before that? when I’m away?

This is an update to the problem I was experiencing with the Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensors. I was tidying up my Homey Pro and uninstalled some apps and the Aqara sensors started working. Don’t know which app was causing a problem and I’m reluctant to test further now my setup is working.

But, it would be very interesting to share which apps you removed.

Please state all the apps you uninstalled.

I can ten see if I have those and uninstall one by one to see if that fixes my TVOC. Also, did you reinstall or do anything else with your Aqara sensors at the same time?

Is it Homey Pro 2019? I had problems with the T1 version of a door sensor. Tried reaching out through a support case, but it took too long so I bought the Homey 2023 version and then everything worked.

Sorry it was late at night and I uninstalled a bunch of apps. The ones I remember; Philips Hue, LEDVANCE SMART+ & Brennenstuhl. I was concentrating on installing a bunch of Aqara temp sensors, some Aqara plugs & Aqara FP2 presence sensor.

I have installed Audit app so in the future I can be more accurate.

I have the pro early 2023.

I understand about not remembering though that was unfortunate. If you suddenly remember please state it here. I had none of the ones you mentioned.

I also uninstalled some apps and did a restart of Aqara app (that’s all I can do when I’m not at home) but it didn’t help…

I have just received 8 Aqara Zigbee Temperature & Humidity Sensors and they do not update or only update if I manually shortly press the button on them. I suspect that they go idle due to a communication issue with the Homey Pro. Any clues, advices, recommendations?

Depending on how far away the sensors are from your Homey and how much devices connect directly to Homey in its Zigbee mesh network: Do you have mains powered router devices (like zigbee plugs) nearby that can relay the Aqara sensor data to you Homey?

I have found the root cause and the solution. Actually I have paired the Aqara temperature sensors when standing near the Homey Pro. Then I have moved the Aqara to their final place, in different rooms in the house. This is the mistake! The Aqara Temperature sensors stop working if they are too far from the Homey Pro device, regardless there is a router close or not, the sensor will not use it. So once in their final place, you have to “repair” the zigbee device in order to allow it to use a router close by. For the repair process to work, like with the pairing, you have to frequently press the button (once every 3 seconds) to keep the device awake until the repair process is finished (about 1 minute). After the repair, the Aqara temperature sensor will stay connected through one of the close routers. I have even added zigbee plugs where they are not needed, only to make sure I have enough mesh network from the cellar to the 2nd floor (I’m using cheap zigbee plugs from Aliexpress for that purpose). As from now, if I have another sensor to add to Homey Pro, I’ll do it from the place it must be used to make sure, it will use the closest router.

Glad to hear that you solved it.

And also good that you have experienced some of the basic principles of Zigbee devices yourself :grinning: :

  • Always pair the device at the final location. This is needed to establish the most efficient route via the Zigbee network. If you are unable to pair it at that location, then you need to add router devices to extend the Zigbee network first.
  • Most battery powered Zigbee devices require you to keep them awake during the pairing process, as they are likely to enter sleep mode during the pairing process.

There is another factor to keep in mind, which might become a problem depending on the number of Zigbee devices you have: make sure to pair router devices first with Homey, before pairing battery powered devices.

Homey only has a limited number of spots available for direct connections with Zigbee devices (so the first hub of the mesh network). You really want these spots to be assigned to router devices and not battery powered devices. As the latter ones do not contribute to extending the Zigbee mesh network. You may end up with unresponsive devices or unable to pair new devices if the Zigbee mesh has not been set up properly.
