Aqara doorsensor reporting last status 56 years ago

I have two new Aqara door sensor that won´t work. It works just fine adding them to my Homey, but as soon as they are added they won´t report anything. It just shows this saying last status was 56 years ago. I tried removing the devices and adding them again, also tried replacing the batteries. Nothing works. Anyone experienced this before?

Maybe you need to trigger the sensor at least once after pairing?

Epoch 0, display issue. Like @smarthomesven says, the value is never set.

Tried triggering the sensor by opening the door and shutting it. No response. Also tried pressing the pairing button once while the door was closed or once while it was open. No response then either.

I had some issues earlier with connecting new zigbee devices, and then learned about the limitation of just 15 devices connected without a router. I then connected a Aqara wall plug and managed to connect new devices after that. Could this be a problem maybe? Do I need to remove all my Zigbee devices and connect them again, and then in the correct order with the wall plug first and then all the battery devices? I have some other sensors from Aqara working just fine after i connected the wall plug, so I don´t think thats the problem. Or I really hope its not. Got 20 devices connected to a lot of flows so I don´t wan´t to go through this..

That’s only valid for Homey 2016-2019 series and Homey Bridge.
But in general it’s a bad idea to not use zigbee routers next to end devices;
Please use the knowledge base for Homey info.

Just completely remove the sensor from Homey, reset it, and pair it again at or near it’s mounting position.
And I’d like to suggest to add a few more zigbee routers to create a zigbee mesh network.

Yes, correct. If you want the most stable network, you should add them in that order Routers: first pair the closest to Homey and then set them up all the way until the furthest device which you should add at the end. After pairing routers, you can pair your end devices

Thanks for the feedback. I have the Homey Pro Early 2019, so it looks like this might be the problem for me.

Ok, but how does it work when I´m buying a new router later on. Should I repeat this step everytime I buy a new router? Looks like a cumbersome way to build a smart home.

Ah yes, then it’s max 15 direct connected devices.
I think you’d bite the bullet and rebuild your mesh.

That would mean you’ll break all related flows, because unfortunately Homey assigns new Device ID’s to formerly connected devices.
But, you can fix your flows quite easily with that neat script by Martijn:

Note:
Do save all related zigbee device ID’s before you start removing devices.

.

You shouldn’t have to rebuild your network in theory. But the best start is to first add a few router devices (most mains powered sockets/lights/switches/dimmers), evenly spreaded around the house.

A zigbee mesh is dynamic, the devices should find and use the most optimal route to the controller; in real life most devices stick to their route when they’ve determined it’s good enough.
Certain Aqara end devices (contact sensors) ate known to stick to their route, no matter what.
In those cases it’s best to re-pair (so not: remove and pair) such a device at or near it’s mounted location

And with “re-pair” you mean just hold the button and wait for the led flashes 3 times?

I have this problem currently on my Homey Pro 2019 with an Aqara temperature and humidity sensor T1. Just installed an Aeotec Zigbee router next to an Ikea Tradfri light bulb. Then paired the T1 on the mounting spot. Pairing went smoothly, but no data reports coming in.

After pairing the Aqara T1 I paired another battery powered Zigbee sensor of Aeotec. That device is reporting data as expected, and is about at the same spot as the T1.

In the Homey app, long press the device’s tile > Go to Settings (cog wheel) > Maintenance > Try to repair. Then follow the instructions, which indeed includes putting the sensor in pairing mode by pressing its button for the indicated time.

A little update on this. Last night I removed all my Zigbee devices and started adding them all at once. Most of my flows with these devices are based on zone activity, so I don’t need to update the flows after adding the devices again.

I alse found out that one of my IKEA-lamps could be added to Homey and work as a router.

So when I started adding devices after wiping everything, I started with adding the IKEA lamp and a Aqara wall plug. The lamp is placed in the basement in one end of my house, so I placed the Aqara plug in the first floor in the other end of the house. The Homey is placed in first floor in the middle of the house. When I started adding the end devices I started with the door sensors that didn’t work earlier, and they work just fine now. After finishing adding everything I noticed that the last two temperature sensors from Aqara don’t report anything. Same problem as the door sensors as earlier. Reports no values and last status 56 years ago.

After adding the last tempererature sensors I tried adding a IKEA remote control, and that worked just fine. So it looks like there is a maximum number of Aqara devices on the Zigbee network. Could that be the problem maybe?

Some stats of my network:

  • Total number of devices: 22
  • 2 routers and 20 end devices
    • 6 devices connected to the Aqara plug router
    • 5 devices connected to the IKEA lamp router
    • 9 devices connected directly to Homey (coordinator)

Since it is the Aqara devices that won’t connect. I have 19 devices and it looks like the magic number is 17 since it’s always the last two devices I’m adding that doesn’t work. Anyone know if that could be the problem?

They shouldn’t reside at the outside “ring” of your zigbee devices, you should place them somewhere half way Homey and the farthest sensor.

My Aqara sensors stopped sending updates after I added Ikea lights.
Issue with Homey zigbee: as soon as an Aqara sensor starts to use an Ikea lamp as router, it stops sending updates, AND it doesn’t look for other routers or the controller anymore.

It’s very likely your Ikea light is causing the same issue.

I’m under the impression this years old bug won’t get solved by either Ikea or Aqara (plus, Ikea now is completely into Matter, they might hope the issue fades over time):

.

Interesting fact:
With zigbee2mqtt and my Ikea + Aqara devices this issue isn’t occuring.

It looks like you´re right. When coming home today most of my motion sensors didn´t work, and they all was connected to the IKEA light. This Zigbee universe is one hell of a jungle to navigate in

So now I´m giving up until I get more Zigbee routers that actually works with my Aqara sensors.
I threw out the IKEA lamp (from Homey) and added just the sensors I need. Excluding some of my temperature sensors until I get more routers.

I´m looking into the Frient Mini smartplug as routers for connecting to my dryer and washing machine. Are there any reports of them causing trouble for Aqara devices?

Also if someone has tips of other types of routers that can work fine I´m all ears. Wall plugs are great, but for now I only need two wall plugs for what I mentioned above. Other than that I don´t see any nead for wall plugs. My Aqara just sits in the wall without anything connected…

Aqara temp sensor T1 doesn’t report anything in Homey 2026 but may (!) work for a while in my Homey 2019. I have Zigbee issues in the 2026 that don’t exist in the 2019. I think something changed in the zigbee handling in the 2026. So, I have the same issue you have in my 2026, worked a while in my 2019 but one of the sensors just stopped updating. I’m more of a Z-wave fan…

Hi, just to give you another way to go. I had problems with Aqara Double Switches H1 no-neutral end devices when migrating from Homey Pro 2023 to 2026 I couldn’t get in contact with them in 2026. I bought an Aqara Hub M3 and added my switches there. After that I added M3 as a bridge over Matter in Homey after that I could access my switches (I do not have any Zigbee router devices connected to M3 only 3 switches). As a bonus I’ve got a Thread Border Router which is necessary if you want to use Thread and mesh functionality. (I do have a lot of Zigbee router devices so that was not a problem) If I had reset the whole Zigbee network I might have solved the problem. P.S. What I understand IKEA is moving to Matter/Thread devices.
