[APP] Tuya - Connect any Tuya device with Homey (by Tuya Inc. / Athom)

Dear all

I’m a newbee in homey and I have some materials which are not compatible with HOMEY but with TUYA.

I’m not able to login to TUYA APP from HOMEY.

Have you a solution ?

Thanks

Which Tuya app are you using?

They already said that there is nothing to report

Tuya official app

Ok but it does not work ? That’s all ?

So you have installed it a while ago and now just started using it?

And indeed, for the time being it doesn’t work. You’ll have to use the community app

Yes but that was before the Tuya = Troep remark on bright by the founder. I think that clip did warrant some further communication to us, but alas, that did not happen.

I took that as: case closed, this will not be fixed.

Currently switching back to Home Assistant, not because tuya is not working, but because of the terrible way this situation is/was handled. The only reason to go for Homey was to not have hassle, if there’s hassle anyways, I might as well pick Home Assistant.

No, that clip is (for some reason) completely separate from what @Doekse is stating in this topic. What is stated in this topic is still valid for the official Tuya app: as soon as there is news to report, we will get an update. As there is no update, the only conclusion you can draw is: there is no news to report.

The situation:“This will not be fixed, case closed” would be major news and @Doekse would definitely provide us with an update, right?

That is of course your own choice. Personally, I briefly looked into setting up a Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant with the sole purpose of using it as a hub to control Tuya devices, but it is way more hassle than I would like.

I only described my personal takeway after that Tuya=troep clip and how it impacted my view of the current situation. Not announcing any news nor updates…

Hi everyone,

I wanted to jump in here since I noticed some unanswered questions.

Regarding Stefan’s statement, I’m unable to comment directly on that. What I can share is that we’re equally frustrated with how Tuya has been handling the situation—or rather, not handling it. They pulled out of a contract without prior notice and have since downplayed its significance. They’re now claiming that by signing up for a Tuya developer account, we implicitly agreed to their terms and conditions, rendering the contract invalid.

To provide some context on where things currently stand: LG attempted to negotiate an arrangement, but Tuya continues to push for adoption of the Tuya CUBE API. As for us, we plan to meet with the Tuya board at CES to discuss the matter and seek a resolution. Our goal is to either reinstate the API and collaborate on a mutually beneficial solution or, if that’s not possible, pause the partnership for now.

Keep you posted!

Thanks for doing so!

That is understandable. And I am sure you understand that for us as consumers this is weird to see as well.

Too bad it didn’t work out. The effort is appreciated though. And it shows that LG is involved and supporting us.

I appreciate the effort. However, I am a little bit puzzled. In my line of work we also work with partners to deliver the best results for our clients. I don’t wait until there is some event that we happen to be attending both. No, we directly reach out to the client. Give them a phone call, invite them to our office. That sort of stuff.

Absolutely agree! Tuya did visit our office in the past, but now they seem to downplay the significance of the issue and show little interest in dedicating more time than absolutely necessary to resolve it.

Well, if I am completely honest: not much is in it for Tuya, right? So, there’s a bunch of Homey users that cannot control their devices using Homey? Well, boohoo for us.

I don’t think this is the best position to be in if you want to bargain.

There is. I have returned all my Tuya devices and will not purchase any new ones from them.

The thing is that the part of their user base that work with Homey is very limited number in their total user base…

It really feels like a David and Goliath situation — all we need now is a slingshot and five smooth stones.

It’s not an ideal position to be in, but it’s the reality we face.

Perhaps it’s worth considering how we, as the Homey Community, can come together to make an impact. Just some food for thought.

Exactly my point. So, nothing to lose for Tuya in this matter!

With LG behind you, you are for sure Goliath size as well, right?

Ok, if we continue on that thought… In that case, it would be useful to know what numbers we are talking about. How many people use Homey? (Possible clients through this construction). How many people are currently using Tuya products? What way of making impact are you looking for?

Perhaps Athom hasn’t yet fully appreciated the consequences of having been acquired by LG. It’s certainly strange to think of yourself as being David when LG has about 200x the revenue that Tuya has.

And yes, I’m sure Athom thinks they are still independent, but that’s not how the rest of the world sees it.

If by ‘the rest of the world’ you mean Tuya, then yes. I’ve had elaborate conversations with all partners, and they clearly understand that we are an independent subsidiary of LG Electronics, not LG Electronics itself.

Again, let’s keep this thread free of assumptions or such speculative statements.

Hello,

I’m trying to connect this Tuya siren (https://moeshouse.com/products/tuya-outdoor-smart-sound-light-alarm?variant=45232944283963), via the official app but it’s not working.
I’ve configured it with the Tuya app on my smartphone and created an account, but when Homey tries to connect to the API, I get this response: “Tips No matching information on the app user, please re-enter or change the regional version”

Could you please help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Well… where do I start? Perhaps do a search and read through this topic a bit…
