First I will say that I think this is a very usefull app. I am in prosess of controlling all my heating with it. I have thermostats that by different reasons doesn’t work very well because the buildt in termometer are influenced by other rooms with lower temperature because of where they are mounted. Then VThermo is great to correct this by using an additional thermometer placed on a better place.
In my kitchen I do not have these problems, but to have the same way to controll heating there I want to use VThermo.
I then discover that when there are no additional thermometer VThermo doesn’t allways manage to set the target temperature in the thermostat for my floor heating.
When I change the target temperature in VThermo up to a value that turns heating on, this is also done in the floor thermostat.
But when I change it down to a value that should turn heating off, it is not reflected i the floor thermostat.
I discovered this when I learned that the floor heating was on even ift it was a hot summer day with no need to have heating on.
I think this is a shame for an otherwise useful app
Hello
I have setup my home heating system with underfloorheating and 1x aqara relay to each actuator, with 1x aqara temp sensor in each room. Want to use Vthermos, but it does not see the aqara sensor (in same zone). what to do?
I can confirm VThermo works with Aqara temperature sensors. So I suppose it must be some configuration problem. Can you tell how you configured the sensor and the VThermo in the zone (especially advanced settings of the VThermo device in that zone)
I just added the vthermo the the same zone as the aqara sensor. But there is just a - in the temperature…
Ive tried almost all settings in the vthermos settings… Ideas?
Most important one is at “temperature sensors in the same zone” the “temperature sensors” must be on. This is in advanced settings of the thermostat device you added in the same zone as the Aqara sensor.
And maybe give it some time to pick up a change in temperature of the Aqara sensor.
What type of Aqara sensor do you have?
Can you select which temp sensor to use if you have more than on in the same room? Excample: i have one acara temp sensor and one temp sensor with display, and only want to use acara as input for vthermo.
Well you cannot select the specific sensor, but you can select average, minimum, maximum, newest and manual. In the last case you can update the temperature yourself with a flow. For instance “when temperature Acara temp sensor changed”, “then set temperature of VThermo device to temperature of Acara temp sensor”.
@balmli Looks like the VThermo Hysteresis is not working. Or maybe I’m not understanding this.
I sat a vlaue of 2, and expeced the the zone heater should not be turned off until zone-temp reaches T+2, and on when zone-temp is T-2
Is this how it’s planned to work ?

I recently set up two Vthermo thermostats for two rooms, where the panel heaters are switched by Shelly Wave 1PMs.
Initially everything worked fine, but the smaller of the two rooms, ‘Wc’, has an error on it’s thermometer (I seem to have a lot of trouble with the Aqara zigbee thermometers - I will fix this this evening), and the reading is stuck most of the time.
Unexpectedly, this seems state seems to be reflected in the other room’s Vthermo temperature.
This second room, ‘Tupa’, has two entirely different thermometers, one operating over zwave and the other over wifi, and they have been operating flawlessly (temperature gets calculated as average of them).
Still, it seems like the error in the one room also stalls the temperature value in this room. Also, on the rare occasions that the thermometer in the first room has given a reading, this shows up in the temperature value of the second room as a shift (see 1, 2 and 3 on the image).
The rooms are setup in Homey (Pro early 2023) as zones on the same hierarchy level, and I don’t have any settings for using Vthermo values from adjoining rooms set up. Should I shift the rooms on to different levels in the hierarchy, or is this bleeding effect a bug?
Hello
I cannot make the parent (directly under Home) VThermo target temperature also apply to VThermo in sub zones, and yes the settings “Target temperature update enabled” is enabled on all VThermo devices in sub zones. Did I miss something here? Thanks.
Hi all, my vthermo’s are not controlling the heaters in the same zone anymore. Also not turning off when contact alarm is on. Someone else whit the same problem?
Hi @balmli,
I’m trying to get a better understanding of the humidity in our house, and therefore I’m wondering on the possibility to get the “status indicator” to show the Vhumidity unit as the Vthermo shows.
Another thing, is there a possibility to have the same settings as the Vthermo have? For example, the different levels “Parent zone” and “Sub zone”?
Well I just figured out that controlling the Danfoss LC13 does work, but I must un-select the option control other thermostats (was selected, but it did not work). It did not work so I thought, then remove the selection , and then the LC13 all showed the temp that vtherma had…Hmmmmm so enabling this option disables the update of LC13 , and disabling (no selection) makes it works ![]()
I am on latest test version 1.10.4
Hello everyone,
I just purchased the Homey Pro box.
Formerly with Zipabox since 2014, it took me some time to get used to the new methods of this box but I am very happy with it.
I’m having trouble using the Vthermo thermostat. I created a zone (room) in which I have a thermometer, a relay which controls my electric radiator and a window opening sensor which also acts as a temperature sensor. However, in the Vthermo programming, it picks up the 2 thermometers. And the window thermometer is not good because it takes the cold from the window or takes the heat from the radiator because it is placed below.
How do I make Vthermo use only the main thermometer?
Thanks
Chrys
Hi,
I try to build VThermo with Aqara Temp and Humid sensor and Nexa socket 433MHz relay. Both placed in same zone.
Nexa socket is connected via Trust Smart Home and works. Socket is set as connected to heater in its app. VThermo shows only Aqara temperature. I cannot set temperature and it looks like Nexa is not recognized by VThermo.
Is it possible to change what temperature increase/decrease the controlled device is set to by the VThermo?
I am controlling a heat pump and would be good if the Vthermo sets the temperature on the heat pump much higher in order to achieve correct temperature faster.
Hello
I am new to Homey and even newer to Vthermo
First of all a BIG Thanks to Balmli for your great job here, it looks fantastic!
Is there a beginner’s guide to using Vthermo, I have not found it.
What I’m trying to do seems basic, and hopefully aligne with what the app can do:
- I have an electic heating which can be controlled by a special wire that enbales to switch mode (no-frost free / comfort). So the idea is that in no-frost mode you set a very low temperature like 7°C, which usually means the heater is off. In comfort mode you set a very high temperature like 30°, allowing to use an external temp sensor
- Modes can be switched through a Sonof ZB Mini 2 way relay module. It works well except that it’s reversed: switching the relay on puts the heater in no-frost when you would expect it to be in comfort mode. No big deal though. The other issue, is that this module is recognised as a light switch by Homey, as this is how it’s declared, and I cannot change this. The module sits in the same room in Homey, my office.
- I have an Aqara Zigbee temp sensor, assigned to my office
- I have created a Vthermo in the same room, my office. The senor picks up the temperature correctly from my Aqara sensor in the same room.
So far so good.
Hower when I change the target temperature on Vthermo sensor, it changes color on the screen (blue or orange), but it does not trigger the heater to change mode (go on or off)
Do I need to do anything else in order to achieve that simple behavior?
I guess I need to tell Vthermo which device to trigger (in my case theSonoff ZBmini module) and how (off and on commands) but I have not found where to do this (I tried creating a flow with no luck, but I thought flows should not be needed for just setting the temperature)
Thanks a lot
Olivier
You have to set the sonoff to heater in the settings page. And have it in the same room as the vthermo.
Thanks Glenn
where are these settings?
In Sonoff here are the screens I have:
General settings:
then in advanced settings:
I cannot see where I could change this setting. There is something called device type, but the only option available here is “router” which is guess is the Zigbee device type which is different.
May it is not under Sonoff but under Vthermo but I cannot find it
Thanks
Olivier
