[APP][Pro] Toon P1 - Reuse your Toon meteradapter (P1) with Homey

Eneco’s Toon is being discontinued in 2027. That leaves a lot of Toon meteradapters (the Quby/Eneco box on the smart meter’s P1 port, Quby 6500-1400-6000, Z-Wave) without a purpose. They’re perfectly good P1 readers, and I’d rather see them reused with Homey than thrown away.

I’ve built a Homey app for it, Toon P1 (test version): Toon P1 | Homey

Status:

  • :white_check_mark: Pairs with Homey (after “Remove any node” in Developer Tools to free it from the old Toon network)
  • :white_check_mark: Gas reading works and matches the meter exactly
  • :cross_mark: Electricity (used, returned, current power): the adapter does send the values, but Homey’s Z-Wave parser discards them before any app receives them

The technical bit (for Athom): the adapter reports through the Meter Table Monitor command class (0x3D), METER_TBL_CURRENT_DATA_REPORT. Homey parses the header but always returns an empty variant group ("vg": []), even though the raw frame in Homey’s own Z-Wave log contains the readings. For example, endpoint 6 sends … 60 00 11 d1 35 67 00 00 02 40, which is 1167.669 kWh and 0.576 kW. Apps can’t work around this: the Z-Wave log needs the homey.system scope, which apps, HomeyScript and Web API clients don’t get.

Other meteradapter versions:

  • Older Prodrive adapter (label “Eneco - Meteradapter”, PN 6599-1500-xxxx, also known as “ED2.0 Meter Adapter”, from the Toon 1 era). Different Z-Wave manufacturer ID (0x0128) and, as far as known, no standard Meter command class, so the app doesn’t recognise it yet and even gas may not work.
  • Engie version (Quby EN00, sold with Engie’s Toon/“Boxx”, Z-Wave IDs 0x0130 / 0x0002 / 0x0001). Probably the same hardware as the supported one. The app should recognise it, but it’s untested: please report whether gas shows up.

If you have one of these, I’d love your help: pair it with Homey, open Developer Tools → Z-Wave, and post its manufacturer ID, product type ID, product ID and the label on the device.

How you can help:

  • Have a Toon meteradapter and a Homey? Reply with your Homey model and software version, and whether you’d wanna use this app. The more owners reply, the more likely Athom prioritises it.
  • Athom: a fix to the 0x3D variant group parsing (or at least filling vg (Raw)) is all that’s needed. The app already decodes the values, so electricity would start working immediately, without an app update.

Tested on Homey Pro (Early 2019), software 13.5.3, with a Kaifa MA105 (DSMR 5) smart meter.
