Picture this: whenever dinner is ready, or you are simply feeling lazy and cannot be bothered to get up, you could reach the others in the household. Then I might have the solution for you.
I have made an app called Sonnounce. It works on iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac, and it is fully available in Dutch.
You can send messages to all of your speakers or to individual ones. The app finds the speakers on your wifi by itself. No extra account is needed, and everything you send stays on your own network.
You press and hold the send button, speak, and let go. A short sound plays first, and then your message comes out of the speakers in your own voice.
The music is turned down while you speak and back up afterwards, and you can set a fixed volume for announcements.
With the Homey app, you can also send announcements when you are not at home.
There is also an Android version, which is in testing right now. I expect it on Google Play around mid-November. If you’d like to try it already, you can sign up here: Test Sonnounce til Android
