Cheers Edwin, do what you can, when you can - looking forward to hearing from you at some point but if you decide not to, it’s perfectly understandable with the approach you have. Big fan of the app as it is now in any case!
Yeah it’s a pity it’s been retired and archived - but honestly Edwin’s app is working really well but with its limitations due to what the local API permits, many features are cloud-only. We’ll see what can be done, I’m hopeful!
I am already using this app for some time, but now I am upgrading my existing Growatt MIN 3600 TL XH with a 5kWh battery and want to prevent the EV charger from draining the battery. I was thinking of doing this by blocking the battery to discharge by using modbus register 3082. @Edwin_Biemond is it possible to add this to the APP?

Ideally I want to force discharge the battery with a fixed power of for example 200w so it compensates for the house standby consumption but there doesn’t seem a modbus register to do this.
Was not aware that there was an experimental version that included this function, will try when the battery is installed. Thanks!
also with the modbus app you can try out it 1st , if it works I can add to the app.
indeed prod is behind for many month, test version got latest. just don’t want to disturb 5k of active users.
Wanted to update this as I’ve kind of managed to control the inverter using Modbus (and Gemini to code it), if anyone want to know a bit more let me know. This app is still awesome, anyone who want to read from a Huawei inverter should stick with it!
@Edwin_Biemond “Is it possible to add the electricity consumption variable to the dashboard?”
do you have meters installed?
yes
yep use the battery device even when you don’t have a battery, it will support meters at least
Turns out my only problem was that my inverter needed the Huawei Dongle for ModBus to work. I wrongly assumed that since the device was online and connected through a built-in antenna, I could connect through Homey as well, but that was wrong.
Installed the Huawei Dongle and everything was up and running with this app in a few minutes.
@Edwin_Biemond I have perhaps a silly question. I have the SMA app from Richard Barkesham which works fine except one major problem: the curtailment or power limiting function is using a flash Modbus register which has a write cycle limitation.
I want to use my P1 meter input to control the PV power to actual home load so I want to check P1 power every 5 sec and adjust the SMA output power via Homey to achieve zero grid export. This means very regular read/write cycles to register 40016 which is volatile RAM memory in my case (Tripower 9000TL-20).
I have requested Richard to investigate and make an update to the SMA app but no response.
As you are adding more PV inverter brands would you consider to add SMA inverter modules to your app, and facilitate easy curtailment via Homey? For some reason this is not available. Today at 14:00 the spot price is a staggering -0.4796 €/kWh. On a dynamic contract you do not want to export to grid. It will become really really important next year.
My alternative is experimenting with ModBus myself. I have tried to find detailed guidance but finding the correct info is difficult. I am almost there but it is safer for me to use a preconfigured app.
hey,
no plans but you can use modbus app indeed. probably AI can help you with the flow trigger values
But 5 sec is too short , better use 5 a 15 min avg values at least , only change it per 5 a 15 min when price is low off course.
With these prices , would try to put inverter to 0 active power on those hours and do import only for your house load.
If you have the hm2.0 its easy to set zero export with the modbus app.
This weekend with negative energy prices I automatically turned the Solar Edge inverter of by using this app. I works wonderfull !!
Thank you for this modbus APP !!!![]()
