[APP][Pro] SolarEdge + Growatt TCP modbus

hey,

So you want to know the total PV power ? you can calculate this with a logical variable.

like solar/batt + charge batt - discharge + solar 2nd inverter. only valid when you don’t do charge from grid.

On solaredge they also calculate this all. there is no pv power register which I can show.

thanks.

Wow that is quickly answered. Yes, indeed that is what I am after. OK understood, the “Solar Power” tag cannot be made available for the Home Hub inverters, as it is just not available. Thanks for the quick response!

Immediately wanted to create the variable and only now I noticed the tag “vermogen” appearing in the flowcard “het solar vermogen is veranderd” so is this maybe the “Solar vermogen” tag I was after? I cannot check values now, as it is dark outside…

So like this?

that is more my default flow trigger name, looks like I did some re-use on different device types.

I’m planning to buy a BYD battery for my PV system. I use a Kostal Plenticore as an inverter and I wanted to ask whether I can also charge the battery from the home network using this app.

This is mainly about charging the battery at night with cheaper electricity with dynamic electricity tariffs such as Tibber.

Best regards,

Frank

sorry I don’t support Kostal Plenticore just yet and no clue if they have some modbus interface with some good modbus register doc.

I can add it when you have some vpn so I can try it out remotely

if it is using modbus you can also use the modbus tcp app for starting charging your battery.

I have found the modbus register doc at the homepage of kostal:

Kostal Modbus

Can your app already display the battery status connected with the Kostal inverter?
Actually I have not installed the battery, but I`m close before buying it.

already forgot I do support it, sorry and yes with battery solaredge.modbus/drivers/kostal/driver.compose.json at main · biemond/solaredge.modbus · GitHub

but no guarantee how well kostal works with this battery, I rely on modbus. You need to check with kostal what is supported and how well it works.

Hello, maybe somebody can help out here. Since a few weeks I am not able to charge by battery from the grid. Maximum charge power seems to be identical with the PV production (see picture).

Maximum charge setting is 5000 W.

Storage Charge/Discharge mode should be correct. It worked before. Storage mode is “Remote”.

What am I doing wrong here?

Hello Edwin,

My Homey updated yesterday and I’ve finally received the new Energy tab.

I’ve read on the forum that there’s some issues with the device class for Modbus because inverter and battery is showing as a single device, correct?

I was wondering if there’s any quick fix for Energy users that can be implemented until Athom addresses this?

Right now it’s just showing ”-” on solar production, and when I scroll down to generated solar power it shows both solar and battery input, making it quite unuseful for my use case.

Would it be possible to only show the ”PV input” value in this view until there’s an official solution for batteries?

This morning the app was unavailable all of a sudden.
I have no issues with other apps but only this one.
I’ve tried to install both regular and test version but it doesn’t install on my Homey.
What the heck is going on?

sometimes solaredge changes something from their side.

Can you check this

But I heard it before, else make a support ticket.

let me check but I think I need to check what is used for this, I think it is meter_power which is not there , solaredge goes well with energy dashboard.

I don’t see it on the modbus doc and don’t know how to calculate this. but have these

"meter_power.export",
"meter_power.import",
"meter_power.charge",
"meter_power.discharge",

no clue. what is your device/inverter?

you can try restart homey, or use main app. that did not change for 4 weeks.
or add the same device again see if that works.

plus send me a report

Hi again Edwin - thanks for the suggestions.
Although I tried to restart Homey, several times that didn’t work initially.
But now it has solved itself for some odd reason, so no need to take aciton.
Thank you again for your great work and commitment

It was set to “Always Allowed”. With “make a support ticket” you are referring to Solaredge, correct? Will do that.

yes , can also you have to do a battery test again and maybe the night batch will alllow it again.

maybe this helps charge battery from the grid · Issue #57 · biemond/solaredge.modbus · GitHub

Hello everybody

i’ve a question with te new energy tab.
I’m able to see the PV production and not the amount of energy from the grid. Is it normal?
As i sow in yours pictures seems no.
I have a Solaredge PV with an LG battery

thanks for yours help

hey , I got the same setup . can you try this 1 SolarEdge + Growatt TCP modbus | Homey

added some improvements but don’t think it will change much.

So for us we have basically 3 in 1 , like pv , smart meter and a battery. but until now Homey does not support this, can only support 1 of the 3 , you need to make some dummy p1 or batt with the right device classes.
I won’t do that so homey need to come with a good impl for this use case . I guess every inverter app has the same issue.

Tnks Edwin!
I hope that Homey implement the system also for the people that have this kind of configuration. In my country at the moment don’t have the P1 port in energy meter, so the energy tab is quite unusefull
