Does this app still getting updates?
Itâs in the app store for all apps: on the apppage, look for âView change logâ.
But whatâs the background? Do you miss a device, or is something off?
Missing device. Being Ceiling Lamp White model 929003055001 not added.
The developer of this App is âmissing in actionâ for a year now. The last update of the app was on 22 September 2024, the last commit on GitHub is on the same date. There are now over 100 issues open on GitHub. And the developer @johan_bendz last posted message in this community was on 9 January 2025. I sincerely hope he is fine and simply lost interest in maintaining this app.
But @Doekse, is there something Athom can do?
Because having to invest in a Hue Hub and transferring all lights to a separate Hue Zigbee-network is not something I look forward to.
We offer support for Philips Hue through the official app in the Homey App Store, which does require a Philips Hue Bridge.
Iâm sure @johan_bendz would be more than happy to transfer the app to another developer, so it can be properly maintained and receive the care it deserves.
Canât you install it as a ZigBee device. I do that with all my Hue lights.
One of the reasons I use a Homey Pro is that I want to avoid having to use an additional Hue Bridge and other hubs.
However, this dependence on single private programmers is simply too high. What @johan_bendz has achieved so far, and what may have started as a hobby, has grown enormously. At this point, I would like to thank @johan_bendz very much for his efforts! ![]()
But in my opinion, this can no longer be managed by one person.
Since the Philips Hue, without the bridge app is ranked fourth among lighting apps, meaning that it is used by a large number of Homey Pro users, I believe Athom should definitely take action.
Edit
I would like to add one more thing. Without the numerous engaged community app programmers, Athom would not be where you are today. You couldnât have done it without the community app programmers. Thatâs my personal opinion.
Totally get what youâre saying, and I fully agree. Thatâs also why we put a lot of love into supporting community developers.
That said, putting on my partnerships hat for a moment, we also need to maintain a good relationship with the folks at Signify. Slapping an official badge on an app that effectively lets users bypass the Hue Bridge would understandably rub them the wrong way, if you know what I mean ![]()
I can understand that. However, Philips Hue/Signify doesnât make its big money with the bridge, but with the lights that users buy. Thatâs why Philips Hue/Signify will also benefit from Johanâs app⌠![]()
Btw, the app doesnât necessarily have to get an âofficialâ badge; that wasnât even mentioned.
Can I add all Hue devices as a Zigbee device?
such as smartplug?
I was talking about Hue lights (not the very old ones). For other devices I would say âgive it a tryâ.
