[APP][Pro] OpenTherm GateWay MQTT

You could check with a PC tool like MQTT Explorer if the messages come in. Some mesaages only come in every few hours. If the messages do not appear at all, your thermostat is not requesting that data, or your boiler does not provide them. There are sometimes ways to enable updates and increase the interval, but that is more advanced stuff in OTGW itself. Visit github or discord for that.
The Homey app simply uses what it gets, so again, nothing I can do from an app perspective, unless you have a new feature request or find a bug (but it has been running very stable for me the last year)

@Gruijter

Could it be possible the the cards Alarm on and off (Storing Alarm ging aan and Storing Alarm ging Uit)
are switched.
If I get an alarm on the boiler I did not got it working but after a reset of the boiler the flow (Alarm on) started.
Now if I swap both card the flow works fine.

I checked in the code, and you are correct. The text of both cards are swirched around. Will fix it in a next release. Thx for reporting.

new version 1.1.1 is ready as test: OpenTherm Gateway MQTT App for Homey | Homey

  • Fixed alarm_fault action cards.

Can you tell me how to communicate with the *^&^ thing, Edwin . I am searching and trying for hours and hours, feeling stupid
Man how I wish I ordered it with all the services…
I have flashed a dozen ESP32s en Wemos minis, but the one I got from Nodo keeps quiet. The blue led flashes when I connect it, and when I reset the board, so it seems not DOA
I’ve used Windows and linux, there is no serial connection anywhere.
Does it have to be set to boot mode? Or just plug it in and it should connect? I can’t find how, did too much reading and searching for today.
(in dutch: iets met bomen en bos :stuck_out_tongue: )
Any hints will be much appreciated

no clue , but mine failed a few weeks back and try to fix it and try to connect, nothing worked and ordered the chip and used that 1on the board. Everything works again. did not try to connect it again.

Oh I see, thanks, Edwin. I just thought about trying some more USB cables tomorrow, some are only charge cables I just realized…

EDIT: yes it works, I found another micro-USB cable and the Wemos mini could be flashed.
Thanks Robin @Gruijter for bringing OTGW to my attention and for the great app.

I now can trigger on hot water flow (the flowing water that is) events for example, very nice

After reading your discussions, I decided to purchase the OTGW device, as recommended by @Gruijter. I managed to connect it to my Homey MQTT gateway, and everything is working well: I receive the monitor from my Atlantic NAIA2 boiler and my Navilink 105 thermostat.

However, I would appreciate some advice on the configuration to set a temporary temperature (for example, RT = 21). Is it possible to control this temperature setting via the OTGW application through Homey?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Gilles

What temperature do you want to set? I dont know the RT command.
But the Homey app already supports setting room target temperature, boiler target temperature and domestic hot water target temperature. You need to enable that in the settings. Also your boiler+thermostat need to support it.

Hello,

I apologize for the mistaken ā€œRTā€ command. What I meant to say is that I’m attempting to create a script to command in the scenario flows: OTGW/set/otgw-48E72958932A/command OT=18.00, but the thermostat doesn’t seem to react to the change, nor does it modify my setpoint in the boiler.

Could you please guide me on configuring the settings from the Atlantic Naia boiler?

Thank you for your help.

No need for a script. You can use the flowcard I created for setting the room target temperature.

But you need to enable that in settings first. And your boiler/thermostat needs to support the command too.
For support on OTGW with your boiler/thermostat please get support on the Discord forum: OTGW-firmware

Hi everyone. I recently can no longer select my ā€œOTGWā€ in an and statement.
For example, if timer is 0 and hot water is being used then stop the fan.

Thanks!

You can/should use a logic card for that.

I think it was working. Because all my flows are broken.

You’re sure you’re using this app, and not the one with the green icon?

Because that one has two AND cards.

Probably the app stopped running, just restart it, and your flows should be working again.

Its now working with the logic card. Thanks!

Hi, firstly thank you for developing this great app. It works great and now I can get rid of my custom written mqtt commands in my flows.

I also like your use cases and I am considering to implement the same… will keep you posted!

Question: I would like to have more control over my heat-pump and boiler. (Techneco toros) While the family takes a shower early in the morning… the heat pump works hard to fill and heat the boiler. This all happens in the morning when my solar PV system is not yet producing enough energy for the consumed kw’s by the heat pump/boiler.

I would like to delay/suspend the heating process, until the sun starts to shine…

I noticed the ā€˜tapwater blokkade’ (dhw blocking) function. Not sure what that function is doing?

What would you suggest for this use case?

  • temporary lower the tapwater doel temp? (Dhw temp) to prevent the boiler heating up?
  • switch on tapwater blokkade (dhw blocking), and undo when the solar pv system starts producing enough energy.

I am looking forward hearing from you…

Regards,
Joeri

That prevents the use of hot water. It doesnt work on my boiler (intergas).

Lowering DHT temperature is possible, but be aware of Legionella. I use 58 degrees at start of shower, and lower that to 40 after 5 minutes showering.

I dont know how you can prevent the boiler from heating up in the morning. I guess the best option is to tell everyone to shower during the afternoon or evening

Hi, I want a second OTGW to control my Remeha Tzerra. I have MQTT communication between DIYless thermostat and MQTTbroker on my Homeypro(2019) running.

But,
1-is a second OTGW on my Homey no problem?
2-i like to order a completely Nodo build and programmed Wifi OTGW.

The OTGW and nonMqttOTGW-app on my Homey is running smoothly on my ELGAwp for over 4 years now.
