[APP][Pro] Netgear Router - Network control, Presence detection, Energy monitoring

Unfortunately, this test version also does not work with my Netgear router :frowning: (See GitHub)

Hello, i see the RB850 router and have al the flow cards, except the internet online/offline card.
What am i missing? The alert is there in the plug-in it is red, but no card, so need to use other plug-in to do the internet check. Strange.

You can check e.g. every minute and use a logic AND card to see if internet is on/off. Athom changed the Homey firmware so that is why the triggers went missing.

Ah ok. I used the other network control app to do the check and user netgear app to do the router restart and that works :+1:

Hi @Gruijter

I have a question. I tried to read the whole topic and I hope I didn’t miss the answer on my question.

Does the API of the netgear router shows to which satellite a phone is connected to.

I have a 3 story house. 1 router in the livingroom. 3 satellites. If my son, who has his bedroom on the top floor comes down for e.g. dinner I want his lights to go off as soon as his phone switches from satellite no. 3 to the main router.

Of course I could kick his butt every time he forgets but he is taller then me and he works out.

Thanks in advance

Rogier

Dont think so. Did you try?

I see that the phone switches from the satellte 3 to the main router. But I can’t select a card in a flow. Is this something you can investigate?

You could probably use a logic AND card to check where it is connected, and trigger the flow e.g. every 5 seconds.

I’m affraid there isn’t a logic card for it.
Thanks anyway

Is the SSID not changing?

That’s the idea of a mesh network. Everywhere the same SSID.

So how can you tell in Homey that it connected to another sattelite?

That’s my point. See post 405. The 2 screenshots. The same phone is first connected to the Sat3. I walk from the attic to the livingroom. My phone is disconnected from the Sat3 (attic) and connected to the main router (livingroom). So the netgear is seeing / making the change.
My question is how I can use this in a flow.

I appreciate you are thinking with me. Thanks

Rogier

But doesnt make it available through the api that Homey is using. Maybe you can do something with connection speed or signal strength. No other options from my side Im affraid.

Those screenshots are from the orbi management app, you can see it there. Nice use case, I have the same need now . I also have a orbi system for my 4 floor house

You both could try to do a compatibility test from the app settings and upload that to github or DM me the output. I can have a look if the info is hidden somewhere in the api output.

@Gruijter

Hi. The app has a card for “if the IP address of the device has changed”. That is excellent, but I’m missing 2 things now.

  1. Which IP adress is this? The one it gets from my modem? Or the one that my computer sees as gateway?
  2. Is it possible to get a “and the IP address is [field]” card?

My use case.

Since today I have a new Modem from Odido. This defaults to the exact same IP address as my Netgear Router. (192.168.1.1)
I have now set the Odido Modem to 192.168.2.1 so that works.

But the major issue is, that according to the Odido mechanic that installed it, that at a major update the Modem will return to the default IP address. When that happens, the Netgear router changes to 10.0.0.1, which causes major issues, as you can imagine.

So when this happens I want to be warned by Homey. But I’m not sure if only having the mentioned ‘If’ card will be sufficient.
Any thoughts?
