I am also suffering from weird behavior.

And that happens after a x time after restarting the app, not more than a hiur or so.
So all device state polling gets stale fast.

I had been having problems for a while which I am not convinced had anything to do with your app, the Device in Homey has stubbornly refused to stay online this past week. That is the worst it has been. Access control had been left on as your app turned it on anyway, for reasons still unknown my Nighthawk mesh was putting devices such as all the house phones onto the blocked list. I am moving away from MESH and back to AP using UniFi, mainly so that I can have separate 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands, not possible with the Netgear product. Whether the crash report provides any answers I donā€™t know. Thank you for your hard work, I fear that Netgear have let users down with some firmware updates

After seeking athom support due to a very unstable Philips Hue app and several weeks of digging through logs it turns out that its the netgear app that is causing my troubles with Homey. The app is now uninstalled and all my in stability with the Hue app and Homey itself have been resolved.

I have a Orbi RBR850 router that i had connected with the api.
It looks like the netgear app had a huge amount of crashes according to the athom support. The device busy log errors seem to indicate that it really locks up the network stack, and so causing other apps to have issues also.

I hope this info is useful because i prefer a more native solution like this one but for now i need to keep it uninstalled.

v4.1.3 was just released:

  • Fix adding new router.

v4.2.0 was just released as test: Netgear Router | Homey

  • Added MAC aliases for attached devices.

Modern phones will provide a fake MAC address. Usually when the phone is connecting to the same WiFi station it will keep the same (fake) MAC address. But when you have multiple WiFi stations in your house, like I do, the same phone will be known under different MAC addresses in your network, depending on what WiFi AP it is connected to.

With version 4.2.0 of the Netgear app you can now add up to 4 extra MAC addresses for the same attached device. For presence detection Homey will use the latest available connected information for all MAC addresses you add.

Hello,

Have a problem with the Netgear router app.
(The real problem is that my router does crash sometimes and no longer have internet to the outside world. The only solution is to restart the router then).
Now only the built-in internet connection control in the app is not working. Nor can I adjust these settings (or any other settings). Then I get the error messages below.

strong text

Is this a known problem or is there something else going on?

Of course, I want to solve any problem or challenge with Homey. :upside_down_face: In this case, create a flow that if no internet is detected by the Netgear or Homey, then reboot the router. I could also accomplish this if there is no up or download stream. But I canā€™t activate this one either.

Gruijter Everytime I restart Homey your app turn on Access Control on my Netgear Orbi. I always turn Access Control off, but next time is the same, both on Homey Pro 2019 and 2023. Why is your app turning on Access Control and blocking some of my devices? otherwise great app!

The access control is enabled by the Homey app because that function is one of the most important use cases.
There is a way to not have the devices blocked though:

  • go to the netgear webinterface
  • enable access control
  • select ā€˜all new devices get accessā€™
  • select all devices that are currently blocked, and allow access
  • show list of blocked devices currently not connected, and allow access

And after that, just leave access control on. It shouldnā€™t block any devices, unless you ask Homey to do so via a flow.

Yes! I have done that and it is working for a while, then something donā€™t work and I login to the web interface again and discover that some device is blocket, only way to allow them again is to turn off Access controlā€¦ anyway this sounds more like a Orbi problemā€¦ maybe you have som thoughts?

Recent Android and iOS phones hide their real mac address for wifi networks. So if you want your phone to be correctly detected at home when you have multiple access points, disable this function in your phone. You only need to do that for your own home wifi ssidā€™s. So in the bad outside world you can still use random mac for better privacy.

Hi
I canā€™t connect my RAX30 router. Iā€™ve posted an issue on github. Could you help me?

sure. I think you manually need to set the SOAP port. See my response on github.

As mentioned in Github, it doesnā€™t work by specifying another port.

Hi, I left you a message on github.

Thanks for sharing, restarting my R7000 did the trick!

Hi, Iā€™ve tried all kinds of ways and have no idea what Iā€™m doing wrong.

I keep getting an error when connecting the router: " HTTP request Failed. Status Code: 401"

I have already tried changing the IP, typed soap port as 5000, 8080, 433, 80 and I get the error every time.

Please help.

Hi Sebastian,

I had the same issue when Homey was connected to the Router (R7000) via LAN. After unplugging the LAN connection using WLAN works in my case. Not sure why, but I see the router and it is stable.

regards, Bernhard

Hi @Gruijter
Have the new RAXE300 router but despite a successful test. I canā€™t get it connected to Homey. Have posted a message on github, but you may have not have gotten to this yet or maby you busy with other things  can and would you still like to look at this? :eyes:

Thanks!
