[APP][Pro] Magic Home LED

Sorry for the late response! I just did the following, after which it worked right away!

After the controller had not been plugged in for days, it gave itself a hard reset. I had to re-add it to my network, after which Homey immediately recognized the controller! Problem solved!

Nice!

Found an old Magic home device with an RGBW strip in a drawer and was trying to get it to work. After adding it, it comes up as a AK001-ZJ100 device. I can controlnthe RGB, but I cant find an option for the white. I have no idea which version this one is and tried to chang to the ZJ200, just for fun. Now I cannsortof controlnthe white, but its a warm white wheel and not a dim function. Is this how it is supposed to be or is there anything wrong with what im doing?

@Antohagg no idea. That depends on the led strip and controller.

Probably the app couldnt detect your model so it falls back to another one. You can try different versions.

But maybe good to check first of you can control everything with the original app.

And RGBW is color + whites so yeah that would make sense

Everything works as expected in the original app. Could you please give a hint what the RGB+W option do? Does that function work with all models?

@Antohagg then you can combine both types together. If its off it will either be RGB OR whites

But does this option do anything if I choose the AK001-ZJ100 version? I dont see how I can control the white when I turn it on.

As you already found out the ZJ100 doesn’t have whites. So not sure why you want to use it?
You can choose the ZJ200 or the ZJ201. They are the same

Or the ZJ2146 if you want to test with cold white.

But make sure to restart the app after changing the mode. It might work better

Yes, got it to work with both 200 and 2101, but the colour is a little bit off. Tried with getting a clean Red, Blue and green, but there is always a little mix of colours. Are there any differences between the models?

In Homey theres no difference in how the colors work.

HI is it possible to change the MAC Address? I have some generic Magic Home Light bulbs, I am not able to discover them however if I add a duplicate working LED Strip controller and change the ip address on the new device to the light bulbs it works/ish but conflicts with the original device even though the ips are different? Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for that great app!

I have a problem with my magic home led. In a flow, I use the card Then: “Set foreground color to… and background color to … use effect … with speed …” but got this error: light.setFixedMode is not a function

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks

Hi
I will check for you

New app update (:orange_square: TEST: 3.6.4):

Changelog:

  • NEW: add manual option to pairing

Hi, ive purchase 2 of this & encounter some problems hoping u may enlighten me on this.

i tried connecting my ws2812b led strip and powering with 5V, my app cant seems to be able to Add or detect device (tried manual, & via BLE too). However whenever i removed the led strip from the controller, it immediately shows up on my app.

I’ve also tried adding device (controller) into app without led strip connected first, then connect the led strip but the controls in app immediately goes timeout (without any functions working) and upon refresh, controller went offline i.e disconnected.

Have tried with 2 controllers and 2 ws2812b strips all not working, mind sharing some insights please?

Or is it meant only for 12v-24v input + led strips only? (as i saw that the label on controller stated so)

Hi @dan1
Doesn’t look like your asking about the Homey app.
Are you aware this is the Homey forum?

I’ve got a silly question, I have some 5-meter-long 5050 60 led/meter (12V) led strips RGBWW (actually 30 color and 30 WW it seems)., the specs say 14,4W per meter, which I thought was a bit much, but hooked it up with a Magic Home Led controller and a 6A power supply, works perfect, but with WW I only use 18W for 5 meters and in color 9W max in total (5 meters)

Now the interesting question…are the specs (and lots of websites wrong with the 14,4W (or 7.2 since it’s only 30 on at a time) per meter, or is this in some way due to the Magic Home controller not delivering full power, LEDs seems quite bright.
(tried multiple LED strips and multiple controllers, but the results are the same)

And if it’s indeed only using <20W per 5 meters and the controller is rated at 96W, would it be 100% safe to hook up 15M (3 strips) to 1 controller, or better not do that? Also, can a 2A power supply be used for a 5-meter ledstrip (I would think so, or am I wrong?

Hi all,

Is it possible to use a custom effect which I created in the Magic Home app on my phone?

Hi @Dennis_van_Dinter
No unfortunately thats not possible
