Hi all

Lightkeeper makes the lights and remotes you already have, a bit smarter, without you building any Flows.

:warning: Still taking shape. This is a 0.x app. An update can change or break a device you have already set up, which may mean running Repair on it or adding it again. Please read the changelog before updating.

What it does

Add it via Devices → Add → Lightkeeper and choose one of five types:

  • :control_knobs: Light Remote: turn a remote, switch or dial you already own into a controller for any lights. Lightkeeper writes and maintains the Flows for you.
  • :alarm_clock: Light schedule: lights on and off at set times on chosen weekdays, with a colour and brightness if you want.
  • :sunrise: Circadian light: warmth through morning, midday and evening, following your own sunrise and sunset.
  • :art: Colour Curve Light: draw the day yourself as points, each with a warmth or a colour.
  • :sun_behind_small_cloud: Room-sensing Light: brightness from a lux sensor you already own, or from the sun’s height.

Each device exposes what it wants the lights to be as Flow tags, and there are two cards: Set lights the Lightkeeper way and It is dark enough.

Requirements

  • Homey Pro (2023) or newer, firmware 12.9.0+
  • A Personal API Key with Flow permissions, but only for Light Remotes and schedules, because Homey doesn’t let apps write Flows on their own. The key stays on your Homey.

Nothing leaves your Homey: no cloud, no telemetry.

Reporting a problem

Please say which device type it is, which lamp or remote you use, and what the app’s settings page (Settings → Apps → Lightkeeper) shows. That page lists recent presses and light changes, and why each was acted on or ignored. There’s more in the FAQ.

Update: 0.6.5 currently in review.

Changelog:

  • Choose how a device controls your lights — change them after they turn on (the default), set them before they turn on so they come on already right, or leave them alone and only work out the values. A device that set colours before lights came on stops doing so until you run the new light test once from Repair.
  • A remote button can turn lights on the way the rest of the house knows they should look, taking colour from one Lightkeeper device and brightness from another at the moment you press.
  • Lightkeeper’s values in your own Flows — as tags, a card that sets a room from two devices in one change, and an It is dark enough condition.
  • Redrawn setup screens with a new colour picker, colours for schedule blocks, and a shorter Room-sensing Light setup; plus fixes for lights left alone for hours when nobody had touched them, a Light Remote with a colour button arriving unavailable, and a dozen more.
