Hi, Flow tokens are a very strong part of homey. They are essentially just all values devices, apps and yes/no, text/number variables you make yourself.
If you have any questions about them, just let us know ![]()
Now the Homey Dashboard is released in beta, is anyone making the move from HDashboards?
Well, ofcourse people will as everybody has different needs.
In my opinion, controlling dashboards by flow, rtsp streams, assigning every tile an unique action (by flow) and having a fully customizable grid, are huge pro’s of hdash. Also, having colored tiles depending on the status, being able to show big amount of variable texts, being able to have multiple Homey’s, the gauge meter and a full user management system can also be big pro’s for some people
A big pro for homey Dashboards is the possibility to for app developers to make widgets. Hopefully they ll all be in the we style.
So far I have not seen cancellations.
Also we strike back with major releases and new functions.
The last three weeks I switched a lot between dashboards. They both have it’s pros and cons. But in the end I never had the official Homey Dashboard running longer on my wall than a full day.
The official dashboard definitely looks better, and you can’t really mess up (I have seen a lot of really terrible looking HDash dashboards from other users). But in the end it’s all about features and functionality.
The reason for me to keep using HDashboards:
- The flexibele grid
- Different dashboards (layouts) for different devices
- Information density, begin able to add so much more on a single screen
- The use of custom images (to start a flow)
- The abiliy to start a flow from ANY item on the dashboard
- The ability to open other dashboards from ANY item on the dashboard
- Much more flexibility and usability to show ‘variable’ information
- The multi card with toggles
- The gauge card
- Being able to set a custom wallpaper and use opacity on the cards
- And a ‘stupid’ one, but I so much like the fact that I can directly scroll the Homey timeline from the dashboard
The official dahsboard isn’t bad by any means. And I would happily use if there wasn’t the HDashboards alternative.
I am looking forward to the development of both solutions ![]()
Thanks for sharing your experiences, that helps a lot.
Personally I think both systems serve other type of users.
Where indeed Homey dashboards it’s hard to mess up it lacks a lot of features, but for the mainstream user that’s gonna be fine.
I rather see HDashboardsa bit as also developing your own custom controll home app.
Very short ; no
Might be that that is just a limitation of our webviewer on iOS. as Hdashboards is a native mobile app our UI is nativly rendered. It might be that transparont doesn’t work when loading in a bloc kof HTML. But i should check if that is indeed the case.
