[APP][Pro] Futurehome SDCO Smoke and CO-detector

We are using the correct “smokealarm” device class for our implementation instead of the more generic “sensor” class the community apps use. Athom has decided that devices with the smoke alarm class are not relevant for Climate, which is, from my point of view, not such a weird decision. This also means that there isn’t anything we as app developer can do at this time as we will not be changing the device class to something more generic.

You can easily solve this Climate limitation by using a virtual device.

You can create a virtual temperature sensor that shows the temp from FH smoke detector, and have it appear in the Homey Climate tab

Just follow these steps:

  1. Install the app “Device Capabilities
  2. Add a new device and select “Devices Capabilities” then the Advanced Virtual Device (AVD).
  3. Choose “Create an empty AVD”.
  4. Give it a name and select an icon.
  5. Go to the virtual device’s settings:
Settings > Maintenance > Try to repair
  6. Set the Device Class to: Sensor
  7. Create a new Number field.
  8. Give the field a name (this will be the label for your virtual temp sensor).
  9. Under “Shown as”, select: Temperature (measure)
  10. Under “Reflect”, choose: Devices
  11. Under “Device”, select your FH smoke detector
  12. Under “Property”, choose: Temperatur (number)
  13. Make sure to check the box “Create Real field and Flowcards”

After that’s done go into the device settings> advanced settings and make sure this is enabled:

Excluded from Climate> No

Your virtual temp will now appear in the Homey Climate tab and reflect real-time temp from the FH smoke detector🌡

Device settings (in Device Capabilities) should look something like this:

@drenso, will the official Futurehome app support the FH leak sensors as well in the near future?

We are currently lacking the sample we need to create the integration, but we are looking into that.

I have a couple myself, can I provide you with any relevant data? Or do you need direct access to a physical device?

Yes, we absolutely prefer having the physical sample so we can test with it before releasing.

We have 5 smoke detectors from Futurehome installed at our place. All 5 show exactly 4 degrees too high. It is not unlikely that this applies to everyone, and then it is not very interesting to include it in the climate overview anyway…

I have 8 of the smoke detectors, but I don’t have the same issue with the temperatures. In my case it all comes down to the position. It’s usually hotter along the roof in the center of the room than low on a wall, but I don’t see any huge differences compared to my Fibaro motion sensors or my Aquara temperature sensors. And ideally we should have a sensor in the middle of the room, so I don’t believe the wall is more correct. I successfully used these as a part of my waterborne heating setup in Futurehome, and now that I have added them as virtual temperature sensors I believe it will work in Homey as well (as soon as it gets cold enough outside). My principle is to use multiple sensors at different positions to get the best average for controlling the heating.

It is possible to adjust the temp reading by sending a raw command in the settings menu, but I don’t remember the parameter and the bit number. I have done it on one of the detectors but I don’t remember how to do it but the correction should be -40 to adjust the temp reading down 4 degrees. I hope someone can find the correct values.

I think it is:

Parameter: 7

Legth: 1

Value (1=0.1 so one degree up is 10. One down is -10)

Thanks, will try this settings, and it worked out, correct readings now👍

Hi, I’m completely new to Homey, and I’m wondering if it’s now possible to include Futurehome smoke detectors in Homey? If it works, is it relatively easy to install? Will everything be visible — temperature, battery status, humidity?"

Thanks!

Yes, install the Futurehome app on your Homey and follow the instructions to pair you fire alarm with Homey. It is as easy/difficult as with other devices paired with Homey.

You can see the temperature, battery status and humidity.

See example below. Battery status is on a different tab.

Hi, and thank you so much for your reply!

Can I ask a few more things? I have installed them (6 units). I’m unsure whether they are connected automatically. I’m also wondering if it’s possible to run a test. And lastly, they run on batteries, so if there is something wrong with the connection between them and the hub, will they still work in case of a fire? (Homey pro).

Best regards

Karianne

They are not automatically added. Look in devices, if you do not see a Smoke device, they are not added and you need to pair first. Press add device and follow instructions.

The alarm of the smoke detector is not dependent on the hub connection. When connected you can create an flow to get a message on your phone for example.

So, start by getting them added to Homey, once the device is added you can test sounding the alarm (push button on alarm to test) and see what Homey does.

Wishing you happy testing for the weekend!
