[APP][Pro] Eufy Security

I understand.

The idea was that if someone has a big family with many people accessing the Homey app, then maybe some family members would feel more comfortable not being “detected” by the cameras (if the cameras were turned on for some reason) and the snapshot would be available until a new snapshot was created.

But this is probably a very niche request and not many people care/think of this, so it’s probably not worth the extra work.

I thank you very much for the consideration and all the fast replies and explanations!

can anyone help?
I’m trying to add my eufy homebase 3 to homey, after my long in details it asks for captcha caractors, it then tries to load, and nothing happens

@Ronwell please send a diagnostic report [APP][Pro] Eufy Security - #2 by martijnpoppen

An update:

Last week 1 times the app didn’t turn the alarm on, some how the flow did not work/missed? Status change by homey eufy app was working fine (so it was not needed to login again).
Today the alarm wasn’t turned off in the morning, this time homey eufy app cannot change status anymore (so need to do repair). This even after implemented app restart for eufy with an flow and it is also not solved after reboot of homey (did directly the latest 12.2.0).

I did not do an repair yet as i made an report: 16a59d83-0298-4f48-b4d0-cfcda76e5571

Hey @Michael_PA4MIC
Ignore my anwer on the report. Didn’t know it came from you

@Michael_PA4MIC The last status change i see in the logs is the change to ‘Home’

it did properly trigger

I can understand this request, it has today something with privacy. Off course having camera’s is les privacy but when you can controle who and when people have access to the data.
But I also understand Martijn as not a lot people will use it or think about it as you said.

@Michael_PA4MIC Yes only thing i can think about is deleting toggling the functionality completely, same for the snapshots. But that means that you get no images at all… But a “in-between” solution will be way more difficult to support later on. Because I definetely have to explain that a lot of times :stuck_out_tongue:

I looking right now again in eufy app it self and now i see indeed changes by homey eufy app around 8:06 but this is much later then done! This must be an thing at eufy cloud site I would say? (did not do repair and when I test now it change again)

On 7:07 there was an alarm because homey didn’t change the status to off. It is even more weird as on 8:05 homey turned the status to off. Very strange as this is more then an 1hour to late.

@Michael_PA4MIC I think there’s a difference here.

The status to Home came in as a event (From Eufy to Homey), so not sure what your flows do, but I didn’t see any changes to OFF. But if that’s send from Homey to Eufy it will be done by a flow right?

Can you give me a bit more info so i can understand your scenario/use-case?

@Michael_PA4MIC & @martijnpoppen

I highly appreciate the discussions about my concern for the “snapshot” availability in the app!

I can only hope that someone will come up with a really simple workaround that’s easy to implement/maintain and that there are more people out there thinking of their in-household privacy.

However, I just right now noticed something.

When I enable snapshots in the settings (not quite sure what it is, but I’m guessing that it’s flow related manual snapshots?) then I get 2 tabs in my camera settings, “events” and “snapshots”. For some reason after a few attempts, the snapshot tab suddenly became the default image to show (which is blank). I’ve even disable snapshots, but the tab is still there and is the default tab.

I’m guessing a Homey reboot will make it “normal” again. But I’m actually preferring it this way. At least it takes some more “clicks” to be able to see the last “event”

For a more “permanent” solution. Is there a possibility to have a “privacy” setting that only shows the blank “snapshot” image? And if the privacy setting is disabled, then a new event image will show only if a camera detects and sends a new image to homey?

Or maybe locking the image behind password protection or “admin account” or something?

Thank you again for considering this!

Btw, sry for interrupting your troubleshooting!

New app update (:green_square: LIVE: 3.30.3):

Changelog:

NEW:
1: None

FIXES:
1: FIX: small timeout for image update (prevent old images)
2: FIX: CPU warning fix. (make sure to disable snapshots on all devices for this!)

Additional info for point 2: HP23 uses a lot of cpu and memory for snapshots. This is due to a workaround i had to make to support it on the nodejs version which is running on HP23. Athom is aware and i’m waiting for a fix. To prevent the CPU warning make sure to disable snapshot in all your camera’s then the work around will be disabled on the next reboot

If you find any issues, send a report via the mobile homey app

More - apps - Eufy Security - settings wheel right top - send diagnostic report (put your email in the input field to make it easier)

Correct the removal of the image doesn’t exist in homey so after a app restart it will be correct

As mentioned before I think that will be a complicated feature to explain to users

That’s not possible in Homey

Ok, thank you very much for the explanations!

And thank you for all the good work for the Eufy app!

@Ronwell The email and/or password you used is incorrect and therefore you can’t add a device

I had to guess how to add a 2nd account, all i could find is add member, it then wants me to log into the same app with those details, eben though it’s already log ed in on my main account. I log out, then log in with new details set same pass. then log out and log back in with main account.
is this the correct way, couldn’t find details on how?
