[APP][Pro] Eufy Security

I noticed this recently as well - luckily I did repair and all cams were back. Also sending app diag might help… funny - checked it just now and guess what - again, Captcha…but it again worked for me.

I first noticed that based on flowchecker Variable Broken flows, as all image tags were gone…and was writing question here and noticed CAPTCHA :wink:

@Peter_Kalrsson no correct. That’s why I advice everybody to do shared devices instead of shared home. to prevent mismatches.
But shouldn’t matter, at this time you’re a Eufy Pro user :stuck_out_tongue:

@sharkys Yeah Eufy became a bit more strict with Captchas. Every Homey restart or Eufy app update will do a login.

What might help is use 2FA. Then your Homey will be a trusted device

@martijnpoppen can’t your app eventually throw something in the Timeline, when Captcha is required, so eg. with push notification it will warn user ? Just an idea.

Or you think that Device capabilities - Device not available, would work ? (just testing but will take time to confirm it…)

@martijnpoppen

Ok, so I have shared all the devices instead, but same problem, no devices found (after the Captcha).

In the Eufy app, it looks like this:

eufy2

Diag: 95b81b0c-c214-44af-9576-669eea314041

Ca’t do anything more now :frowning:

Yes that might be possible!

@Peter_Kalrsson ofcourse the logs don’t show anything…

what you can do maybe. Add another user to your Eufy account. So account C. And see if that works.

tip if you use gmail: if you mail is john.doe@gmail.com -> john.doe+eufy@gmail.com

It would be great because without reading this topic, trying to answer question and checking actually why image tags were suddenly gone and why FlowChecker kicked in (I’m not sure if Device variables worked already on HP23?), I would not notice it :wink:
What is strange, I got that captcha in quite a short time frame…like within 1 week while previously it was OKay for months. Maybe some new EUFY/api surprise ? Let’s see…

@martijnpoppen

So, problem solved…

First of all - the devices turned red due to the Captcha thing.

Then no devices were found. What I missed was to set the correct region during the Captcha login process. I though that “EU” was marked, but I was wrong, “US” was selected.

Hmmm, you learn something new everyday :joy:

Yeah, I noticed that as well, US is selected always, no matter of previous value

Hi Martijn,

Eufy keypad does not beep ( like it does when leaving) when I enter the home and the alarm is set to away. The home base is too far away to be audible.

I would like to have my hue lights warn me when the alarm is set and the delay is in progress. Is it possible to push the set time (delay) to homey and use this in a flow ?

Hey @Paolo_nl
Unfortunately the time setting cannot be retrieved from Eufy

@Peter_Kalrsson @Sharkys i have to change the Eufy login template anyway to the new Homey design. Would a checkbox make more sense?

@martijnpoppen

Yes, I think a radio button would make more sense. Right now, it’s too easy to miss.

In general, will this Captcha thing be the end of this journey? It seems to be very aggressive. For example, I have scheduled restarts of my Homey, and after every restart, a Captcha is required.

And after I fixed my problem yesterday, I got a new one at midnight, 00:01.

:frowning:

Thanks Martijn. Checkbox or by default EU (unless you have more users from US) and best to remember previous :wink:
OR / by default not checked at all, so user is forced to enter… ?

Yeah it’s really aggressive and I don’t know why. I think they tightened the security a bit.
As said 2FA would solve it as your Homey would be a trusted device.

Edit: I’ll test that actually :stuck_out_tongue:

I am tired :slight_smile: so maybe I don’t understand, but haven’t we explicitly said before that 2FA should/must be OFF on the Eufy account that Homey connects to? I don’t understand how we can make Homey as a trusted device.
