Maybe I missed information about this but I am a little confused:
Until now I have tested dashboards with Homey 2016. Today I installed the app on HP 2023 and created a dashboard device. Then I opened app configuration and clicked Direct Connect/Remote URL. Login dialog opened and I selected HP23. Then the browser oncly showed dashboard created with Homey 2016. I tested alse with Online URL. I alse closed and reopened browser.
Then I created an API-key and opened browser #2. Dashboard for device on HP23 was now available in browser #2. I copied the URL from browser #2 to browser #1 but the result is nothing.
Sorry for babbling but I do not understand how it is intended to work. Mayby it is not designed for 2 Homeys?
The Buienradar URL errors, but a German rain radar URL works as Homey virtual cam (thanks @RonnyW !)
I don’t get yet why the Buienradar URL doesn’t work in a virtual cam (also doesn’t work with a advanced virtual device virtual cam)
Multiple Homeys is not really supported yet using homeyboard.github.io. And using API-key only works when accessing the locally hosted dashboard url by opening the app configuration page. I will make improvements to this in the hopefully near future, but for now, it’s a limitation
The next release takes a little while. I’m replacing the entire UI framework the app was build with, with something that hopefully works a lot better. As the app was getting more complex, more and more issues surfaced.
The app isn’t live in the Homey App Store yet, only the direct test-url allow you to find and install the app. But that hasn’t stopped 47 people from finding the app and installing it. So it will be interesting to see how many users it gets when it actually goes live
There you can create new keys with the access you want it to have. Note that read access to devices must be added to retrieve dashboards from the Homey
Is it something in my settings? But finding a device in the insights is really difficult. Do I need to change something for the Insight devices to be sorted alphabetically?
Yes, it’s not sorted at the moment. Should be fixed in the next version
And I see that you have an unknown insight type homey:app:.... I’ll make a note of that, to present the name of the app instead
The problem is many weather widgets are in HTML and not in image or video format.
I use the following URL for dutch rain raidar in a virtual homey cam.
When I want local acces and make the dashboard on a laptop and want acces then in my tablet do I need to renter de API ?
Because when I’m loading the link (local or online) it doesn’t work
I’ve looked into it, and it’s not that much work, but not on the top of the list just yet
It’s important here to differentiate between local url and local dashboard.
A local dashboard will never work outside that exact url in that exact browser.
Local url is just the method for accessing the web-app without going through the internet (homeyboard.github.io). Using the local url requires you to login using an API-key if you switch to a different browser.
The key reason for installing the Dashboard app on the Homey itself is to have “global dashboards”. Which is probably what people will use the most.
