[App][Pro][CLI] Tap Dial Lab — Philips Hue Tap Dial RDM002

[App][Pro][CLI] Tap Dial Lab — Philips Hue Tap Dial RDM002

I’m sharing Tap Dial Lab v0.5.2, an experimental app for using the Philips Hue Tap Dial directly with Homey Pro over Zigbee—without a Hue Bridge.

What it does

  • Button actions: One configurable Flow card with dropdowns for Button 1–4 and Single, Double, Triple, Quadruple, Hold, or Long Release.

  • Ring dimming: A signed relative brightness adjustment, allowing clockwise and counterclockwise rotation to control lights through your Flows.

  • Diagnostics: Raw and decoded Zigbee events for those interested in experimenting.

There are no automatic light bindings. You decide what the buttons and dial do.

Current status

This is an experimental source release, not an App Store app.

All 24 automated tests and Homey publish-level validation pass. Button 3 Hold and clockwise/counterclockwise dimming have been physically tested. Other button mappings remain provisional—please test the gestures you intend to use.

Download and installation

Download v0.5.2 and read the installation instructions

Installation uses the Homey CLI. The remote must be paired directly with Homey. The app declares Homey software version 12.0.0 or later.

Community project

The source is available under the MIT license. This is independent community software, not an official Philips Hue, Signify, or Athom app.

I’m sharing something useful from my own setup, but I cannot commit to ongoing maintenance or guaranteed support. Community contributions, forks, and volunteer maintainers are welcome.
