It’s Two separate steps, 1) create the group in Amazon app then 2) create the flow in homey using the groups name.
tried that, the echo just repeats the command and she says announcing at the start
Thats how announcing works …
I know thats why I prefer to use a then card with the say function
from what im reading online it appears you cant make an announcement to groups. it will announce to all amazon devices. i havent personally tried it. i wont be able to do a quick test now as its nearly 1am here. I’ll probably wake up everyone in the house if it goes to all amazon devices.
i originally did set mine up it go to multiple amazon speakers. i knew that there will be delay or an issue where it wont go to all speakers. so i made it so that if there was motion in that room it will send that announcement to that speaker in the room. then i had 2 speakers inside the house (upstairs hallway and downstairs hallway) primarily making those announcements that i considered to be more important.
thinking about it again alternatively you could set up a flow card to trigger a routine. then set up the routine to send an announcement to to those specific amazon devices. i think that would be the only way you can make the annoucements happen at the same time. you probably would expect a slight delay since your coming from homey to then ask amazon to run a routine and then wait for that routine to trigger. may not be ideal if you were trying to set this all up in homey but i dont think you will be able to get around it.
i personally havent tried the other amazon/alexa homey app. i did look around there and asked about sending announcements to multiple devices. someone did also mention that they trigger a routine also. i havent had the time to test the other app out but i suspect it will be similar to this one as the developer did mention its using the same package as Jamie’s amazon alexa homey app. the only difference at the time of the response is that staeff mentioned that this app is using an older package.
i assume once jamie has the time a future update will be using a newer package.
I tried the routine method, it works but only with pre-configured text. the text I want alexa to say depends on what my security cameras see.
Hello, every time I try to log in with my login details in the app settings, I am then asked to verify myself with a code that I receive via SMS. Then I get this message. What am I doing wrong?
Hello,
I have an Echo Show 8 Gen.3 since yesterday. Unfortunately, only Gen.1 and Gen.2 are supported in the app. I would be happy if the Gen.3 came along too.
Many Greetings
Lothar
Use 2 factor authentification with amazon and an auth app like google auth. Then you have to put in the number provided by the auth app not the one you’ve got by mail oder message
I have the same problem and I tried what @Stefan_Keicher said with the 2FA Code from the App, but still the same problem.
What I also noticed it that when I should enter the code and to slow the field get cleared everytime.
Had this issue of the clearing field before I activated the 2FA Mode. Afterwards I was able to fill the six numbers of google auth without a problem. Maybe a log in and out of your amazon account helps, after you activated 2FA.
I have found the issue for me. In my Amazon Account the Code via email was set to primary and not the OTP. So I changed it to primary OTP and while connecting process I got asked for the OTP from the App and all worked fine.
Hello! I would like to request support for Sonos Era. I can assist in testing it.
Has anyone had this (see attached picture) way of trouble with the Alexa App before? I can’t sign in or add any devices to homey pro. I tried restarting the app a few times, when that didn’t help I deleted and installed the app again but it still does the same thing. It just takes me to the start page of Amazon and I can’t do anything else, if I click on anything on this page I get a blank page. Sometimes I sign in before hand and it will then show me as signed in on the page but that won’t help anything.
I’ve tried disabling two factor security and then also enabling it, that doesn’t help either, I’ve tried disabling my firewall but no luck here too.
Hope someone can help…
happening to me also.
I’m facing the same issue with this app. Can’t sign in to any of the servers. Presented with the amazon home page but can’t do anything with it.
Please try to find a fix. Thanks.
Hey @Jamie, happy to assist with testing Amazon Echo Dot Gen 5 (2022) if you have spare dev cycles. Thanks.
I was going to ask if there’s any intention to add new devices on the app. I have connecte my Echo (2nd Gen) and my Echo Dot (4th Gen), but not able to find my Echo Pop (5th Gen).
I had problems connecting the first time. I remember I had to change the authentification system, but not remember exactly how I managed. This sentence from the 1st post helped me:
IF you have MFA turned on, and your connecting the app may show a ‘page not found’ error page.
From that moment, I have to connect to alexa via Google Authenticator.
Damn, still no Echo Pop available.
