[APP] IKEA Home Smart - Create the right atmosphere for every mood - fka IKEA Trådfri (by Athom)

Disable IPv6 in your router.
This bug should be solved a while ago but apparently isn’t.

.

No, but they will break. Uninstalling the app could make the devices being removed as well (not sure if zigbee just marks them as “unknown zigbee device”).
When you install the app again, you’ll possibly need to add the devices again, and repair the flows involved

Often installing an app without removing it first, works fine in case you try to fix things

Thanks for the feedback and useful information. The problem disappeared when I restarted Homey. I have firmware 12.5.3. (Homey tells me that the latest) and the Ikea app has the latest version, so I imagine I don’t need to do anything else for now. I have experienced before that updating an app requires a restart of Homey. I just didn’t think to try that first, before I posted.

You’re welcome!

Shouldn’t be needed, I recommend to report those issues to the app developer(s).
With my Pro 2019’s, I sometimes needed to restart Homey after a firmware update. Not (yet) after updating an app.
But a Pro 2023 has it’s own particular issues.

But, it’s true, the first support question still is: “did you restart it / did you powercycle it?” :face_with_peeking_eye::wink:

Maybe I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking… but all I did was use the Restart Homey Pro function. And absolutely nothing else. And then everything emmediately worked again, as before the Ikea app update 2 days ago.

Hi I just got the IKEA vindstyrka air quality sensor and it works really nice. I was wondering if homey could add support for changing the backlight intensity and turn it on or off based on a flow. If I’m not mistaken home assistant has this option so it should be possible.

Will the new Ikea Matter devices be supported in the future? Or wont they by supported by this app since they use Matter anyways, and therefore can be connected via Matter directly.

They work out of the box with Homey Pro (Early 2023), Homey Pro (2026) and Homey Pro mini.

They will also be added to the official IKEA app so that you have matching device icons

We’ve already had the devices for a bit and expect to push the update soon

Ah cool!
The temperature sensor is already available since today apparently and was wondering if I should get it now and add it just through Matter. Or wait till this app ‘supports’ it even though its the same as adding it directly through Matter with a matching icon.

FYI

I updated from Homey Pro 2023 to 2026. After that every Ikea device stopped working completly or partly.

Every Zigbee sensor and switch stopped completly.
Zigbee plugs can be controlled, but do not report values to Homey.
Zigbee Battery shades stopped working.

The new Ikea matter devices are different.
Butttons work intermittently.
Temp- and air quality sensor work all the time.

Not related to Ikea:
Homey home and away detection stopped working.

I’ve contacted support and received this today:
This issue has already been reported by other users. I can’t give any guarantees on when this issue will be found and resolved, but please know that it has been forwarded to our development team and it will be investigated. We hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

If you upgrade to HP26 today, this is what you can expect.

Happy new year!

Version 2.9.2 — Minor fixes and stability improvements.
Released today. But it did not address the issues described above :head_shaking_vertically:

Pretty sure they also botched the Bilresa button because now I can’t use it to light up my kitchen. Flow is broken because the button events are no longer avaliable

Same here, only battery card available. After last update yesterday.

I have the same issue, no Button cards anymore.

Same, and since today it also seems like the Trådfri switches themselves are having issues.

Original Topic: IKEA BILRESA not working after Restart of IKEA Smart Homey App

Hi,

i am using several IKEA BILRESA 2-Button devices in my house. Working very well.

But : Once I restart the App “IKEA HOME SMART” (V 2.9.2) in the Homey Settings all attached BILRESA devices do not work anymore. They are still shown in device list. But taking a look into my configured advanced flows I see, the Button Prop’s do not exists anymore (Card unavailable). Also Repair is not shown in the device details. does not work and I need to delete and add the device again (Which is a mess with dozen of active flows with the buttons).

I do not find anything regarding this issue. Does anybody has the same problem?

As far as I know, Matter devices aren’t dependent on apps. Maybe you should try rebooting Homey?

But the forum is filled with Homey and Matter issues. Not sure if your issue is Ikea product related, or Homey Matter related.

I can confirm this behaviour. Restarting the Ikea Home Smart app removes the button cards from the Bilresa device and causes a “Card unavailable” in flows. A full reboot of the Homey pro restores the cards.

Cards of Bilresa button before restarting app:

Cards of Bilresa device after restarting the app:

The devices could function without the app being installed. But I need the app for the Ikea Zigbee devices connected to my Homey Pro. In theory the app should only apply the proper icons to the Ikea Matter devices.

The other Ikea Matter devices I use do not show any problems.

Yes. I also recognized that a reboot of the whole homey get the devices back functional after a certain time.

What do you mean with adding devices without the app? When I add the BILRESA in homey with scanning the matter code, homey seems to install automaticall the ikea home smart App in the background.

Matter drivers are just JSON files and icons, there is no code inside of them. All Matter devices get added the same way.
