[APP][PRO] Mennekes modbus

Hi All,

I’ve created an app or the Mennekes Amtron charger series using modbus.
It’s my first app, so feedback is welcome.
[repo]
[Beta 0.1.0]

Features
Implemented features:

  • Read charger Line voltage, current and power
  • Read (total) charging power
  • Read lifetime charged energy
  • Read session charged energy and session duration
  • Read the charger’s current limit and SET the limit through FLOW card (load balancing)
  • Read charger’s current capability
  • Read EV’s current capability
  • Read EV’s required energy
  • Read the chargers operational state

First will be only for 1 phase grid connection, 3phase will be added later as new device.

Link doesn’t work, Please wait until App is reviewed and published by Athom.

Hi @Dijker how does that work? It should be first accepted for the store and after that it’s available for testing?

So until then tester are stuck with downloading the repo, build using Homey DSK and load manually on their homey?

Best regards

Yes, as mentioned in the Dev portal:
before review it isn’t available, only after review a Test is available at:

Your app will be visible in the Homey App Store when at least one version has passed certification.
Your app is currently available for testing.
URL to your app

https : //homey. app/a/ {{AppID}} /test/

If I am correct, remove the Check:
image

and You can share the /Test link when it is verified / approved by Athom …

The Mennekes app is live now. If there are people who are able to test, please!
(Including the flows!).

Remark that this version for now only monitors single phase (L1) connections.

Best regards,

I have installed and insert it correctly. But no values are displayed. What is the failure?
Greets Timo

Hi Timo,

the items are displayed on creation of the device but are filled with values when they are retrieved from the physical charger. There is something resulting in a communication failure (IP, Port, model).

Is it an Amtron device?

Best regards,

Yes Amtron device with correct IP.

Hi Timo,

can you connect to the charger using, for example, the CAS modbus scanner?

Can you check you’re running the latest firmware on the charger?
https://www.mennekes.nl/emobility/service/software-updates/

Which version amtron version are you using (compact, premium, professional, …).

Best regards,

It is a Mennekes Charge Control. Now i have the newest firmware installed and definetly the right ip adress. I find no port information in the backend.

No data is shown.

Greets Timo

Hi Timo,

Which type Amtron do you have? I’m using it on the Professional version. There can be a difference in register structure.

Is the charger accessible when using Cas Modbus scanner?

Best regards,

Hy i get now data from the wallbox but the carr does not load. The wallbox blnk the left usage icon. I think that the box want a authorisation. I have no rfid here. Is there a other solution to authorize the loading?

Hello,

Today I’ve added several devices to my Homey Pro.
Most of them I’ve managed to get working.

But my MENNEKES AMTRON charger does not show any connectivity data.
I know for sure the correct IP-address. I can connect via the browser, check settings and so on.
The latest version is installed onto the charger ( V1.13 ) .

Remark : I do have an SMA Home Manager 2.0 that manages my SMA Solar invertors, SMA Storage ( Home battery ) and that SHOWS my Mennekes Chargers functionality.
In my SMA invertors I had to activate TCP ( Port 502 ) to get their data into Homey

Are there any screen-shots available from an operational Mennekes AMTRON charging station ?
I’ve gone through all settings I can think of, tried some but no joi.
Thanks for hints/help to get this resolved.

Walter

modbus is only supported on amtron professional and premium models

Hello Tjar,

Thanks for your response.
Well, I feel/believe I have the correct model.
I do have an AMTRON XTRA PREMIUM model.

Just added a PICTURE from my device, inclusive some data from it. Hope it’s visible.

This charger is 4 years in use. It’s foreseen from the latest Mennekes 1.13 SW/FirmWare as to my knowledge. I’m using it with my SMA Home Manager 2.0 in an intelligent way to charge the CAR with the overshoot from SOLAR-energy ( in the Summer ) .
I use it sometimes to charge the car Manual ( When I want that … ) via the Mennekes APP to force charging.
I’m using it mainly in the WINTER-time period to charge my car in time-based charging via the Mennekes APP. This to use the ‘‘cheap’’ power hour-windows from the GRID ( I have more then 1 year already a Dynamic Power contract ) .

I’ve now bought this Homey-Pro mainly to allow me to AUTOMATE things more since up to now I control all things manual. This is OK for the moment but some extra automation would be great.
Via the HOMEY PRO I can do that following the Dynamic Power prices automatically…
Programming all via FLOW is my goal but first, naturally I need to be able to CHARGE my car via this HOMEY PRO. Setting the CURRENT level is the goal.
I feel it is somewhere, somehow a setting in de config …
But, … I’ve tried already many different settings but up to now, … no connectivity with the Homey.

Thanks for some tips/hints
Walter

Possibly here a specific setting ?

then you should be able to connect with a modbus scanner from chipkin for test

Hello Tjar,

Thanks for this message. I saw that already before in a previous message from you but didn’t know what it is/means.
I’ve searched a bit… So I need to install first this application on my computer, run it and then I can, with this application probably SCAN my network segment for MODBUS capable devices…
Curious but I will try. Hope I’ll find how it works and what to do, to expect. But I will search.

As a side thing, … I was last year in direct contact with an Engineer from Mennekes-Amtron when they were developing their latest APP-version ( active since early 24 ) . At the end from '23 I have been working with him. He provide me BETA versions, only for me via a special way, … to perform various TESTS in the real-life environment from my station. It was a FUN time.
Received even a nice Newyears-present from Mennekes for my support.
Debugging was needed since there where many mistakes and I had to discover a lot from them but always he corrected and provided a new version leading to this final version 2.0.4 ( Build 136 ) .
I have now passed him an email about this topic also.
Not sure if he will react since probably he is working on other products now…
==> This just for your info.

I will keep searching for a solution. Really hope/want it to work as this HOMEY PRO was actually bought for this Mennekes-Amtron connectivity goal ( I saw your solution before … ) .
So it BETTER work .

Walter

Hello Tjar,

So far, I don’t get any further.
This MODBUS topic is for me a bit overkill I believe.
Also, don’t see directly any added value. My Mennekes Amtron charging station can perfectly be reached by me from my computer ( to see possible settings… ) and I can reach it perfectly with my APP ( Can modify between charging via Energy Manager, Manual or Time-based ) and when I’ve selected the Energy Manager mode, my SMA Home Manager 2.0 can perfectly modify the charging levels according to the amount of extra solar-energy there’s left.

Could I pass some screen-shots from the charger ?
Or can you help me a bit more with this MODBUS topic.
Now I’ve tried to install that program on my computer. Then I need to scan the network.
I select the network where my Computer is connected to as well as my Homey as well as my Charging Station. But the tool stops…
Any idea’s ?

sma is using the HEMS protocol for their energy management.

You can enable modbus under netwok settings. See:
https://www.mennekes.nl/fileadmin/MEN-Deutschland/emobility/01_documents/04_installer/IA_Aktivieren_der_Modbus_TCP_Server_Schnittstelle_v00_2021-01-18_de.pdf

you can try CAS modbus scanner, for example read voltage on register 222, length 2 (32 bit value).
or current on holding register 206, length 2 (32bit)

ID doesnt matted, the charger responses on any modbus ID.
