I am looking for a wireless switch which will allow any person to switch a status on or off. I would prefer the switch to somehow indicate its status either by position, eg flipped up or down, pressed in or out, lit up or not, indicating on or off, etc
Doubt if they exist. The status of the wireless switch can easily get out of sync eith the actual status of a light, device or even variable.
I have a RobbSmart that just shortly lights up a led when operating/switching…
That would drain the battery pretty quickly, since it has to be always listening for commands from Homey, and leaving an LED on for a long time also drains the battery.
Is the device you use capable of showing different led light patterns, depending on whether it enables or disables the function it controls, eg short flash for on and long light or double flash for off? This would work in my case.
I have a virtual device set up in my summer house which controls some heating automation scenarios which are to be different whether someone stays in the house or not. And since all users do not have access to Homey, a physical switch could enable users to switch the virtual device on or off, but I recon they need to be able to verify whether it is actually on or off. I suppose a control panel could be a solution, but would prefer a more simple and less costly solution
No it doesn’t…
But the might be a simpeler solution :
Next to your wireless switch add a light or even led, attach it to mainpower with a switch module.
Let your virtual device set up not only switch on your hjeating but also the light/led and vice versa…
you then not only have a light/led confirming the status, but also an extra check the switch dirt actually switch on the heating…
