šŸ¤“ What's up, Nerds? — Introducing Homey Self-Hosted Server

@Doekse

Does it truly work offline?
I see its a subscription service but like how often does it connect to the Athom servers to check if my license is still fully active? Does it connect once a day/week/month?
Would a lifetime purchase remove this?

And as others ask if I have a zigbee stick does it support this?

That does not seem to be supported. But there are other options like SMHUB, which runs zigbee2mqtt + Mosquitto. Then you can use the devices with the zigbee2mqtt community plugin. It is even a Thread Border Router (which the Bridge isn’t).

No experience with it though. I use a HA Green + ZBT-2 with zigbee2mqtt and use the devices through the zigbee2mqtt integration in Homey Pro. Would also work with SHS.

No, you need the Homey Bridge

My Homey Pro still serves me well enough, so no need to run Homey on my Unraid server. However, I’m much more excited about the promise of supporting Python for the development of Homey apps. That should hopefully make it easier to port Home Assistant integrations :eyes:

Claude is also pretty good at converting them, however it doesn’t know the Homey app best practices. I have no experience with Python myself (only with JS), so I don’t know how that would work.

First bug: Unable to create a HomeyScript. Everything else is working for now. Except for HomeyScript; when I click on it, nothing happens.
and you ? @Doekse

Proxmox server

Yes, for me it doesn’t show them in the sidebar either.

Is it possible to use homey pro 2023 instead of the bridge?

Yes, via the HomeyLink app

It still uses the RAM from the homey pro?

Gaahh, decisions! I bought a HP23 as a BF deal, but haven’t started using it yet as I’m moving to a new house after new years, so my Homey (Early 2018) is still chugging along.

Can’t decide if I should return the HP23 while I still can and go with SHS… Would I be able to use my old homey for the zigbee/zwave/433 protocols?

Yes, you can use HomeyLink

The problem is that it use the cpu and ram from the pro

You can use Webhooks and virtual devices, create a virtual device in Homey SHS and add triggers for turned on, turned off, etc. Then, you can use the ā€œEvent receivedā€œ card from Logic on the Pro, and then perform the action on the device. You can also do it the other way around, so that the SHS will have ā€œEvent receivedā€œ as trigger and change the state of the VD.

Fully agree, deserves some attention too

Same here, Robert. I recently tried the ā€œnew phoneā€ trick with an older Android phone, I’ve selected OTBR as default TBR in the HA companion app, but after a night of trial and error, the lock just won’t pair.
Using my current phone, which prefers Ggl Hub as TBR, it paired just like that :expressionless_face:

So this app doesn’t work?

I have no Nuki devices myself, so I can’t test it. But it appears to be supported using this

Do I understand HomeyLink correct, but I need to add devices to my old Homey, and then with the HomeyLink the devices will be available in SHS? I was hoping for a smooth integration where devices was added in SHS by using the radios in the old Homey (is this how the Homey Bridge will integrate with SHS?)

SHS and HomeyPro are both a server. SHS without antenna, HomeyPro with.

Both can use a HomeyBridge as satellite.

But SHS can’t use a HomeyPro as satellite.

Oh no…. I’ve been exclusively using ā€œsetup via homey proā€ does this mean I have two thread networks in my house?

I first put every device in Apple Home, turn on pairing mode, and then add it to Homey Pro via ā€œsetup via homey proā€ and I’ve noticed lately that a lot of matter devices are going offline in homey, but not Apple.
