My HomeWizard Link app uses a lot of RAM, I just checked on my Pro 2019 and it’s 26MB there, but it’s 86MB on the SHS, and I even have less devices on the SHS compared to the Pro 2019. Why does it use so much RAM compared to my Pro 2019? Or is it a bug in my app?
I have a Homey Pro, can I use it with Homey Self-Hosted Server instead of Homey Bridge?
People using Matter/Thread devices can not use this SHS. And that is a shame. More and more device are coming with this new protocol. So i will wait or switch to HA…
Same here.
I have 100+ devices and 50+ flows.
I’m not using SHS if I can’t switch from Homey Pro’s backup.
Will it be possible to get WRITE scopes for Homey app developers on the self-hosted Homey instance? It really would open up a ton of opportunities to be able to e.g. programmatically write new flows or augment existing ones.
I’m not a fan of Matter or Thread myself, I feel like they’re too unstable to become a mainstream protocol. For that reason I will keep using ZigBee devices myself, as it’s rock-solid and I’ve never had an issue with any ZigBee devices myself.
The problem with Matter/Thread on a Homey is not working fine. That is because Homey uses the same hardware for Zigbee and Matter.
With other Matter/Tread routers there are no problems (HA/Apple/Aqara).
I have a Pro 2019 which doesn’t support Matter, but I have once used a few Matter devices on Google Home and it was too unstable for me so I just moved them back to Homey and then linked Homey to Google Home via the cloud

already done of course ![]()
What’s the point in using a Bridge
They can’t be PoE
Then you can extend with more protocols, like ZigBee, ZWave, RF, IR, etc.
How does this work exactly?
AFAIK it works over your LAN, so the Bridge and the SHS need to be on the same LAN
They already work. I’m using my SHS set-up with a SONOFF Dongle Max running OpenThread Border Router in a separate Docker container ![]()
What about future feature upgrades? For example, advanced flows and dashboards were a paid upgrade for older HP users.
Are they included in a lifetime or monthly subscription since SHS is a subscription model?
Incredible, that’s all I needed to know. Thank you!
Best Homey update of the year IMHO
I moved the network rack into the loft earlier this year, to free up space on the landing and it’s been challenging to get my thread network stable enough. This will solve all those issues as I have about 20 Cat6 ports around the house now.
The issues of renovating a period UK property!
Hey!
If I use the Homey Self-Hosted Server (SHS), can I simply plug in any Zigbee/Z-Wave USB dongle (on RPi for exemple) to get support for these protocols, or do I strictly need a Homey Bridge?
Hello, this is just incredible… I already installed it on Proxmox, created the home, and immediately took a snapshot. That way, there’s no problem backing up the LXC as I go… I use Home Assistant, but I use the community app HA and I can connect all the sensors I want, without limits, and without needing a Homey Hub. My wife thanks you, she’s going to be thrilled.
She’ll finally be able to use a user-friendly app. Happy holidays to the whole team and what a fantastic gift!
