What's the best way to group lights and dim them over time?

Hello fellow users.

I currently have many advanced flows where I individually dim my (Hue and non-Hue) lights to a specific value over time. However, I would like to simplify these and have the lights as groups instead.

Is there an app or built in functionality that allows me to tell a group of lights to dim to a temperature or value over time? I am open to a scripting option as well, if that’s the best way.

The most important thing for me and my usage to have the dimming happening over time and not immediately.

You might like to try the < group > app.
Only when all group members have the “Duration” option[1], the group device should have it as well (can’t test myself);
Then it can be as simple as:

¹) Unfortunately it’s not a default option for any light. I know Hue and Ikea lights have this option available

Hi Peter. Thank you for a thorough response, and apologies for me not seeing it earlier.
What you answered is what I hoped was the answer. This would make everything very easy.

I just now used < group > and added three hue GU10 bulbs to a light group, I then took a then-card with “dim to” in my advanced flow and checked if there is a duration option, unfortunately not:

However, all of the lights within this group have the ability to add duration.

I also tried different Hue bulbs, and I tried creating a unified group. No luck!

Do you know what I’m doing wrong, or if I have to enable it somehow?

About the duration you’d best ask the developer by posting in the < group > app topic. You’ll find it on the app page at the homey.app store.
