Use AppleTV as matter bridge (Thread) together with SHS

Hello all

Im trying to figure out options to move to SHS, but I have 2 devices in my home that use Matter over Thread (Nuki doorlock for example), which is now connected to Homey 2023. Is there a way to use an existing AppleTV 4K as Thread bridge for this and move those devices to there, still then also getting them into Homey (SHS)?

Thanks

AFAIK Thread is not available on Homey SHS, because the Homey Bridge doesn’t support it. You can’t use external dongles with SHS.

You’ll need an external Thread Border Router, which SHS can use; like a Google hub, or certain apple devices.
Some apple TV’s can act as a TBR apparently, maybe you’re lucky

(Not sure if this is spot on, but you’ll get the idea)

.
Here’s a complete topic about SHS and 3rd party TBRs:

Yes i have read all that, but doesnt say anywhere how SHS can use the AppleTV (which has TBR support in my case) for devices

Connecting Matter devices to Homey SHS will require that your iPhone is setup that it uses the AppleTV as the Matter Router.. Once devices are setup HomeySHS connects using the Matter protocol over WiFi to talk with the AppleTV, which in turn will proceed with sending the Matter commands over Thread to the devices

This is the very short version of how its supposed to work.

I am struggling with this too.
Im gutted as I just ditched my Homey Pro 23 for SHS and assumed Apple Home Pod mini would work as the TBR.

Ive got my nuki lock paired no problem which makes me think its all working.
I also got one of my Tado x valves paired but only 1.

I cant get any other matter /thread device in at all and get stuck on the searching for device screen

Ive got them all into Apple Home and into SmartThings but homey is just a no.
I had one paired for a day but it stopped responding.

This is a major fail for SHS if thread doesnt work. I guess it forces people to buy their hardware

I cant go back to the Homey Pro as i was struggling with memory to start with, hence the move over

Any tips?
