If you want a weather station, Misol or Ecowitt do very affordable units.

I can confirm what @Adrian_Rockall said. I have an Ecowitt WittBoy WS90 weather station and am very satisfied with it. However, a single rain sensor would be sufficient for your purposes, e.g., the WN20 , WH40 , or WH40H . You will also need a gateway.

Yes, that works with the Misol and Ecowitt app. You will need one of the gateways and then just add a Weather Station device and it will find the WS90.
