I have 2 Brand New GE Enbrighten In Wall Switches, model ZW2008 freshly installed in my home. Every time I try to connect the new switch to Homey, I receive an “Unable to connect. Something went wrong while removing this device. Please try again later” error. I get this in the app and on the web portal.
These are brand new devices…they have not been used so not sure why Homey is telling me something went wrong while removing.
I have tried moving the Homey around so it’s close to the switch while pairing, but I get the same results. This is very frustrating. Not sure where to go from here. I was able to connect to a previous switch (same model) that was previously paired to a different hub, but this has been the only device I can get connected.
Perhaps because the first step in the inclusion process is a “forced” exclusion of the device. Athom wants to ensure that Z-Wave devices can be connected to Homey without any problems, even if this device was previously connected to another Z-Wave controller and no exclusion was performed.
Please check in Developer Tools → Z-Wave if “Unknown nodes” are existing. If so, please delete them by clicking on the 3 dots on the right-hand side and then on “Remove.” If “Remove” is greyed out, please click on “Test”, wait until an error message appears stating that the device is not available. After one or two passes, “Remove” should have been activated. Then click on “Remove”.
Then restart Homey. After restarting, please wait about 15 minutes and try adding the device again.
Now working with support on the issue. So far, we have reset the ZWave network, upgraded the firmware, and now support has access to the device to try and diagnose the problem. I am beginning to believe I have a defective device as this should not be this difficult. When we reset the ZWave network, we removed the one working device I had on it and after the reset, I cannot get that device added. Hopefully I will have a resolution soon.
