No, it should report the first values after a few seconds/minutes, except for battery levels (when using zigbee f.i.) > these can take up to 24h to appear.
Usually Homey doesn’t poll, sensors send changed values to Homey;
in case something’s wrong with the connection, no event data arrives @ Homey (and there’s no error notification of any kind )
For zigbee devices this is unfortunately completely normal @ Homey.
It just doesn’t consider, f.i. zigbee, devices to be offline / unreachable after a certain amount of time of no data traffic
