I connected 8 TADO-X radiator knobs to the Homey Pro directly. It works fine for 7 of them. One is out of reach of the Homey, and loses its connection as soon as I mount ik on the radiator . I consider buying a Tado X bridge as a repeator, but wil it communicate withe Homey Pro for that purpose?
AFAIK tado bridge is not a repeater, it just connects any of your tado devices to “the cloud”, and Homey can connect to it by using either Homey apps tado or tadoZones.
In other words, the “out-of-reach” TRV can be paired with the tado bridge, which makes it available to Homey (per “cloud”).
Alternatives
But, why not reposition Homey, or if not possible, extend the Thread range?
Add Thread Routers:
Place one or a few mains-powered Thread devices midway between Homey Pro and your farthest devices.
Examples: Thread enabled smart plugs or light bulbs. These always act as Thread mesh extenders.
Signal interference:
Your (and nearby neighbours) Wifi 2.4GHz signal can interfere with the Thread signal.
Thread and Zigbee share the same radio chip;
Homey manages Thread network settings automatically; there’s no user control ffs (heavily swearing
).
However, when you first lock the wifi 2.4GHz channel to preferrably 1 or 6, resetting the zigbee network, which resets the Thread network as well, will have Homey find the best channel for Thread/zigbee.
You have to pair all related devices again, and fix related flows
Thanks Peter_Kawa,
one of the options you suggest will work most probably. Let you know .
