Hello
Is there really no way to add Google things to Homey? I have 2 Google hubs, 3 nest mini and a Google tv streamer i want to add..ive tried everything and google for hours.
Have you tried the two apps that start with “Google…”?
of course.. They are unable to detect any of the devices
several mini hubs (the ones without camera) and several hub maxes work with audio controls. no access to the camera or display but I can access it to stream audio.
The Chromecast app should be able to find all of your Chromecast enabled devices.
Are those devices in the same subnet as Homey is? Any networking influencing tools running?
I’ve these ones, found by and added to Homey:
I have a nest mini speaker, a Google TV Streamer and 2 2nd generation hubs. All connected to the same network as Homey. None of them show up when using the Chromecast app or the Google Nest app.
As a test: When you create a temporary speaker group in GH phone app, it should pop up as new Chromecast device, when you add a new Chromecast device to Homey.
If not, I don’t know whats wrong, except for something in your network (not meant as finger pointing, just trying to isolate the culprit).
GH:
Homey:
OK, it sounds like they “can’t see” eachother.
Lets start from the start (nothing personal, I just don’t know your skills and knowledge, but I need “numbers”):
1.
Can you check/confirm the IP addresses for Homey and one of your Google devices?
Examples:
Homey:
GH:
Can I assume you already performed the basic steps:
- remove Homey Chromecast app,
- unpower Homey for 15 minutes,
- restart all network devices (modem/router, access points)
- install Chromecast app @ Homey
Do you use your standard ISP modem/router device(s), or is anything extra added? Like, Pi-hole, Adguard, firewall(s), vLAN’s, VPN, …, …
These are the IP from Homey and a Google nest mini
I will try the reboot steps next. Could it by any chance have something to do with the network being 5.4ghz and not 2.4?
This fixed the problem and i found my devices! Thanks alot
“remove Homey Chromecast app,
unpower Homey for 15 minutes,
restart all network devices (modem/router, access points)
install Chromecast app @ Homey”
Cool!
Just to explain, it does not matter if network devices are connected with 2.4GHz, 5GHz or ethernet, as long as all networks are on the same subnet, 10.0.0.x
in your case.
Try the android tv app. It’s great for the steamer
