Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on how to smartly control the heating setup in my older home. Here’s what I have:
• HVAC System: Controlled by an old thermostat with RC, W, Y, and G wires.
• Heated Floors: These are the primary source of heat and are currently controlled manually via simple radiator knobs.
• Gas Fireplace (Planned Purchase): I’m planning to buy a gas fireplace soon and would like one that integrates well into a smart heating system.
The challenge is that heated floors take a long time to adjust to temperature changes, so I don’t think I can rely on a standard smart thermostat flow to control them efficiently. The HVAC system is mostly needed during extreme temperatures (very hot or very cold days), and I want to ensure all systems work together smoothly.
Do you have recommendations for:
-
A smart thermostat or hub that can manage this mixed setup efficiently?
-
A gas fireplace that can integrate into a smart heating system?
-
Any tips or strategies for balancing the different heating sources for comfort and efficiency?
