Brief intro - brand new house in UK, built assuming a reliable zigbee network (no physical light switches). Decided on Home Assistant (honestly, hadn’t heard of Homey). Used an smlight coordinator (now on second one). Constant issues with the Home Assistant Zigbee integration failing. Waking up every other day to no lights. Been through all troubleshooting and completely at a loss.
It is not a big house. Circa 70 devices. Is Homey and a couple of bridges the way forward??
I have wall panels - can you fully customise dashboards?
If your Zigbee issues are caused by interference, Homey will probably suffer the same issues (especially if you have a Silicon Labs-based SMLight coordinator, as Homey uses the same chip).
Homey doesn’t have the same dashboard flexibility as HA has. You will also need a wall panel that’s capable of running the Homey app (so iOS or Android-based) because the dashboards aren’t accessible through a web interface.
I’m in the process of moving the other way. Been using Homey for very long, both the 2019 Pro and now the 2023. I recently got Danfoss Zigbee TRVs since there is an official Homey app that is supposed to support them. This doesn’t work, I woke up to random temperatures… No help from support, and reading the forums others have the same problems and have given up. So now I at least partially moved to HA and there they work perfectly. Regarding other Zigbee stuff like IKEA, I ended up using their gateway and Matter since Homey can’t support OTA updates.
