Scoll wheel and gu10 smart light

Hi All,

I am unable to pair either of these devices to HPM (homey pro mini).

Homey phone app detects the matter devices and thats about it. When moving onto the next stage scanning the QR code and trying to connect it to the HPM as there is no option to do so?

I only got the HPM a couple of days ago and only have connected the Philips motion sensor.

Am I missing something?

It mentions you need the Google Home app installed, have you tried installing it?

Yes I did and it made zero difference. Also I dont have any google home devices, accept for the TV streamer in which I disconnected to setup these devices.

Then when you think your getting somewhere it fails, its so frustrating :confused:

That sounds exactly like Matter: simply never able to find the device. I see it’s a WiFi device? Most of those also have a Homey app using LAN or Cloud which works way better than any Matter connection. What brand is the device?

Its the IKEA BILRESA scroll wheel and the IKEA KAJPLATS smart led GU10 bulb.

I could be wrong, but I think your phone has jumped in because it detected the new device. I would close that window and add your devices using Homeys ‘add device’ process. FWIW, I had some difficulty completing the process that way for some of my Ikea devices. Rebooting Homey fixed that issue.

Try using the Homey web app instead.

Your phone seems to “be stuck” on Google Hub as Thread Border Router, but there’s a way to change that quickly, see this post

Alternatively, this annoying (Android) phone’s “TBR preference” is unused when using the web app!

I did try that and unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issue :frowning:

Was painful re-enabling all my cards back into google wallet though :slight_smile:

HPM doesn’t allow adding devices and forces you to use the Homey app.

Hmmm I managed to force my Android to select a new TBR, like Homey, using that howto.

An other idea: get another (older) Android phone >
hope it’s not used to add Matter-over-Thread devices >
install Homey app, and try again.

Odd, as both Pro 23/26 and Pro mini use the same firmware, and the KB articles I linked to are for Pro mini as well.
Only I don’t have one to test with to see what’s going on.

I believe since the HPM does not have bluetooth your are forced to use the app.

Here is the screenshot in HPM telling you to use the app when you try to add a device.

Sorry for the confusion!
So with a Pro mini you indeed can only use the mobile app for adding Matter-over-Thread devices.

Is it possible to temporary use an other Android phone?
