I just want to say that I really like the Homey platform. This was missing in my home. I’m already a long time user of Hue stuff, almost from the beginning when it came out.
I messed a lot with Apple home but now I’m realizing that was not the way to go.
It is really fun to program all your smart stuff with advanced flows.
Thanks for this great pieces of hard and software!!
I now have running Homey self host server on my Proxmox cluster. I have a pretty nice homelab at home. I’m a nerd from young age.
I’ve bought a bridge and the Energy dongle. A great way to experiment with Homey. I’m considering buying the Homey Pro in the upcoming months, problem my car was for maintenance in the garage so that was a bit expensive bill thus the Pro has to wait for a bit.
I like the podcasts on YT too. A lot of interesting stuff is shared and the announcement of the Homey Portal is awesome!
Honestly, and it’s funny you ask I’m doubting to buy the Pro after some time. SHS runs really nice on my Proxmox cluster. It 's stable. The only reason why was when if my Proxmox cluster goes down… Honestly it never went down in the past and Proxmox is rock solid piece of software.
I don’t use the SHS, so please correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t you have to pay a monthly (?) fee to use the SHS, where Homey Pro (if you don’t use the backup) has no extra costs after you bought it ?That could be a reason later on to switch if you don’t want that anymore
To be fair, the Homey Pro device can crash or not work correctly as well, so I don’t think that is a difference between the two solutions.
The first month subscription is free after that you can take a monthly subscription or lifetime. Monthly is €4,99 and lifetime is €149.
If your network is failing or your Proxmox cluster your smart home isn’t working. I’m not completely sure if you own the pro. I assume plug it in a wall outlet and it’s running??
