Yes I saw that on your test branch indeed.. that unfortunate.. I’ll try to polyfill the methods what the old nodejs is missing, mayb thatll do the trick.. If I get it to work, I will let you know.. and else maybe it’s time to buy a new one ![]()
@DaneedeKruyff Os there any possibility to stream live videos ?
It’s new with honey to stream rtsp
Ring doesn’t support it I think but maybe there’s another way
It’s not possible to let a flow open the Homey app, and the app doesn’t support a Live Video feed. What you can do is make a flow that triggers on a doorbell ring and send you a notification with a snapshot. Examples of that can be found in this topic.
I made a test version to support Live video on cameras and doorbells.
It hasn’t been fully tested, there’s no detection on the type of Homey nor on the capabilities of the camera or doorbell.
If you want to test it, you’ll have to run it from the CLI, its source can be found here: GitHub - daneedk/com.amazon.ring at test
Battery operated cameras and doorbells are not supported, they will just show a black ‘screen’.
Information will be logged to the CLI, please check if the line: Api.js grabVideo Camera is mains powered: is correct for your camera or doorbell and inform me about it if it’s determined wrong.
It seems the notifications are broken again. The app still have a valid authorization but the events are not triggered in Homey anymore.
Please check the FAQ in the beginning of this topic.
Gedaan, werkt nog steeds niet ![]()
Ik gebruik jouw test versie die je bij de vorige hubble leverde? Moet die verwijderd worden om terug te keren naar de gangbare?
Hi Remco,
I’ve added some steps in the instructions to fix notifications, could you please try again?
If it still doesn’t work, please add some more information such as your Homey version, firmware, app version and the types of Ring devices you use.
(Also, please keep this topic in English)
@DaneedeKruyff I’m here to let you know that I managed to get it to work on my homey early 2018 using polyfills..
Please see my merge request Polyfills for homey 2018 and lower by BarryDam · Pull Request #21 · daneedk/com.amazon.ring · GitHub
I was about to merge some changes I did myself, I’ll send you a PM.
New test version published
Test version: 2.14.2
- Fix for problems on Homey Pro 2016-2019 version, courtesy of @VyseExhale
- Added Live video to Cameras and Doorbells
You’ll find test version of this app here: Ring | Homey
This version contains some additional polyfills1 to make the app run better on Homey Pro 2016-2019. Thanks to @VyseExhale for creating the Pull Request to include this into the app.
Next to that, this test version supports Live Video for Cameras and Doorbells. This functionality is only available on Homey Pro 2023. Also this will only work on devices that use a continuous power source.
1 A polyfill is extra code that adds new features to Homey which aren’t supported due to Homey Pro 2016-2019 using an old version of Nodejs.
Hi @DaneedeKruyff my ring doorbell pro runs always on power but I can’t vieuw love camera feed is that right ?

Hi Mark,
I have the same doorbell and it works for me, so let’s see what’s wrong.
Could you please stop and restart the app. Wait a bit and send me a Diagnostics Report.
Also, what do you see in the app on the Live view tab, can you share a screenshot?
I can’t see a live feed tab on the devicIMG_2698|254x500](upload://cof2Qru1uiMeDngpO8J15hkqnh5.jpeg)
What Homey version are you using?
I’ve added code to check if Homey supports camera streaming, but the method for that isn’t available until Homey Firmware 12.7.1 but that’s currently in beta.
The code for Live view is totally ignored, so the Homey Firmware is most likely the cause.
Edit:
It shows in the view of my app on the developer pages, you’re running 12.7.0 so that’s the cause.
You have two options, switch your Homey to the beta channel or wait it out, the beta is at Release Candidate 10 so I expect it to go live next week (but that’s just my guess)
Maar andere apps werken prima met rtsp-streams.
Wat is er dan anders aan versie 12.7.1/? **sterke tekst
A I see it’s your code **
v12.7.0
Camera Streamen
- Voegt ondersteuning toe voor videostreaming. Met deze functie kunnen Homey-gebruikers hun camera’s live bekijken in de Homey-app en op Homey Dashboards. Aan de slag in de documenten.
I feel kind of stupid. I added the account, and all of my camera devices are found (quite seamlessly, thank you), but non of my security devices are found. I have MFA and verified that it was successfully added. I’ve looked through the FAQ to no avail. Any help on getting the alarm components added would be much appreciated.
Andrew
Hi Mark,
There is no support for Live Video on older Homeys, so in my app I have to check if camera streaming is supported.
The method for that is available from Homey 12.7.1. I don’t want to do a hacky test to see if it’s supported as that might not be future proof.
Btw: Ring does not use RTSP but the WebRTC and could you please keep it in English so everyone can read along
@AndrewRMitchell what version of the app are you using? Athom has also made an app for Ring, but that one doesn’t support the Ring Alarm system.
With the official ring app from athom live feed is working fine
What is the different with your app and the officia one
With your app I also see the keypad is supporter.
Now I’ve connected it with your other app ring secirtity
Is there any difference beteren adding to this app or the security one ?
It works for my app too, you will just have to wait until Athom releases Homey firmware 12.7.1
The difference will be I use the official method (which isn’t released yet) to determine if a Homey is capable of camera-streaming Don’t know how Athom does it, must be a hacky route I wasn’t willing to take.
if (this.homey.hasFeature?.('camera-streaming')) {
this._setupCameraVideo(this.getData());
}
For the different apps; In the Ring Security app the Keypad is connected as a stand alone z-wave device. In this app it can only be added as part of a Ring Alarm system.
