Pomki,
There is also a hardware solution possible.
Buy a 12volt adjustable Lux sensor with relay output for a few euro’s .
Buy a Shelly that is working on 12volt.
Connect it together.
Couple the lux sensor unit to the Red and Blue ring on your Ring Alarm system.
Adjust the Lux sensor to switch on when the ring is red and to switch off when the ring is blue.
A software solution is better but when not possible this the solution
Succes,
Rein
Changing motion on/off along with the home/away mode will influence the 24/7 recording, that’s the way Ring designed it.
It’s described here: 24/7 Recording for Select Wired Cameras
See Changing your Recording Mode to Motion-Based Recordings and Using 24/7 Recording with Home and Away Modes
Thanks!
I may missunderstand. But how will Shelly or the sensor be able to change alarm mode in Ring?
How can Shelly communicate and trig mode changes in Ring?
Pomki3918,
You can only read out the status of the Ring alarm.
To change, you need the Ring app.
New version published1
Version: 2.14.1
- Fixed failures after Ring API change
Due to some changes Ring made in their API there were problems with this app. I’ve been able to implement a fix, but this requires Nodejs components which are not available on Homey Pre 2023 (The white ball) so not all functionality is available on older Homeys.
If you want to be able to get all functionality back to your older Homey, please upvote this request at Athoms Github: Please upgrade node.js versions · Issue #405 · athombv/homey-apps-sdk-issues · GitHub

I’m really glad to see it works for all you guys ![]()
But now I’ve been uninstalling, and installing, setup doorbell and flows several times..
Restart homey do it all over…
EVERYTHING shows that it works, but I get no triggers from the app..
I suspect somehow it’s a block in Ring - but just guessing
I did a diagnose report, but I do expect it to show no triggers…

Is there anyone who have a good idea on what to look after or change?
Kind regards

Homey Pro (Early 2019) - v 12.4.2
Web app: 1.11.31
Ring app 12.4.1
Ring product: Ring Battery Video Doorbell Gen 2
Did you read the the FAQ at the beginning of this topic, specifically how to fix notifications?
Most of the times removing the app and/or devices does nothing as most problems are caused by Rings API.
Thank you so much!!
My mistake - I had no idea there was a Q&A…
I had actually done that move, but only removing all the old ones - not the most resent..
I’ll test as soon as I’m home ![]()
Thank you so much for your support!
Dennis
Hi,
I have recently installed the Ring Intercom. Via the official Ring app on my phone (not via Homey) I can talk with the person who rings the door. Is that also possible via this app (Ring app in Homey)? I only can discover to unlock the door, but no talking option. Can someone help me with it how to set it up?
Thanks a lot.
That’s not possible in Homey thus not possible in the Ring for Homey app.
Hello, since a period of time my ring devices do not work anymore. So no ring doorbell alarm triggers when pressing the doorbell and unable to set my alarm to another state with homey. It did work for a long time. I tried everything, reinstalled the app and devices, revoked the authentication and tried to repair the devices. Nothing helped, what to do?
.
Hi guys, sorry for the stupid question but where I can find the test version? I tried to follow the link provided in the documentation but in the end it seems to point to the same stable version when installed to my Homey Pro (it’s reporting 2.14.1 as version). Indeed I am not able to see any Ring contact sensor of my alarm system…
There is no test version available at the moment, only stable.
Please procide as much info as possible, what Homey version, which Ring devices and just to be sure are you using the “offical” Ring app or the community Ring app?
Yes, here is more information about my setup. Before moving into the new house, I’m testing the integration between Ring Alarm and Homey using the Ring Community app. I’m particularly interested in using the Ring Contact Sensors (2nd gen) both with the Ring Alarm and in Homey flows—for example, when a door opens, the contact sensor should report the event to both the Ring Alarm app and the Homey system.
I’ve already set up a basic alarm system in the Ring app, and now I’m trying to connect its contact sensors to Homey via the Ring Community app.
Software versions:
- Homey Pro (Early 2013) v12.5.2
- Ring app v2.14.1
- Ring Alarm v5.87.0
In Homey, I tried adding a new device through the Ring app and selecting “Ring Contact Sensor v2,” but I’m unable to see any of the contact sensors already installed on the alarm system (I get a timeout error). Can you help?
Are you presented with a dialog to log into your Ring account when trying to add the contact sensor?
Do you also have camera or doorbell?
Could you stop the app, start it again and after waiting a bit try adding the sensor and when it fails send in a Diagnostics Report.
I sent Diagnostic report (id: 7af9f5a3-5bd0-4751-aa0b-40752d112edc). Additional info: I am able to link Ring account with Homey Ring app when asked the first time I try to install a new device. I am also able to install without any issues both cameras and doorbells.
Everything is initializing as it should, but your Homey throws a memory error out of the blue. Could you try with some unrelated apps disabled?
Also, do you have multiple locations setup in your Ring account?
I tested what you suggested (I disabled all apps except Ring) but I got the same timeout error. I have 2 different locations in Ring Alarm (a primary alarm system and a secondary test system), do you think this can be a problem?
I also sent an additional Diagnostic Report (id: 44326c16-ee80-465b-a996-31d8eb589662), maybe could be useful to fix the problem.
Yes, most likely. I’ve posted about this before, please read some previous posts on this subject.
