Problem adding devices in Homey Pro 2019

Dear Sir,

I own a Homey Pro 2019 and recently decided to perform a factory reset to organize my device network. After the reset, I re-added all devices, starting with those connected to power (routers with neutral). The powered devices were added without issues, but I encountered difficulties when connecting battery-powered devices.

Aqara devices, such as:

  • motion sensor,
  • temperature sensor,
  • two-button remote,

during the pairing attempt display a message about starting the pairing process, but after some time, an error appears indicating a timeout and connection interruption.

Interestingly, other battery-powered devices, such as the Philips motion sensor or the Aqara water leak sensor, were successfully connected without any issues.

Additionally, I noticed that one of the powered devices (router) spontaneously lost connection. I have the impression that when one device loses connectivity, only then can I add another – but in such a case, some other device always stops working.

Currently, I have 50 devices connected, but I am still missing about 10 battery-powered devices to complete the network. I was hoping the reset would resolve the previous connectivity issues, which I attributed to the incorrect order of adding devices (at that time, I sometimes added battery-powered ones before the powered ones). Unfortunately, the problem persists and is becoming frustrating.

I kindly ask for support in resolving this issue. Is there any procedure or guideline that could help in correctly adding the remaining devices?

Thank you in advance for your help

The official guidelines can be found here: https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/360019239879-Creating-a-stable-Zigbee-network-with-Homey-Pro

Also note that “Using Zigbee routers, you can create a stable Zigbee network of around 30-40 devices with Homey”.

This is incredibly interesting what you’re saying, because when I bought Homey Pro 2019, they said you could connect up to 255 devices. Now it turns out that it’s only 30-40?

I don’t know if it was Athom who ever said that 255 devices was the limit, but if they did, it was probably the marketing department that did that.

Do you think buying Homey Pro 2023 will solve my problems? Honestly, I was disappointed with Homey Pro 2019.

I don’t know, there are a lot of people that have Zigbee issues with that model too.

Afaik, this is the quantity for Z-Wave devices.
